Schrade Old Timer 125OT year 1991

Nice! I have one of these, but mine has a lanyard hole at the end and my sheath says "OLD TIMER" instead of "Schrade". (This implies something about what year it was made, but I haven't gotten around to figuring out what yet.)

It was a horrible scaly rusted-up mess when I got it, but the sheath was intact and the mechanical side was still good, so I figured I'd rescue it and make a day-hike beater knife out of it for stomping around the woods.

Sometimes I do clever things by accident, it turns out. The scaly rust left behind a lot of pitting, but it cleaned up just fine and took an edge that is the envy of every other knife in the house. Those guys at Schrade really knew which end was up. The only problem is, it cleaned up so nice I'd feel bad to using it as a beater! ;)

Hope you enjoy yours!

Schrade ran their 1095 harder than Case runs CV or Boker runs their 1075. The Schrades were known for holding an edge quite well.

Probably one reason that my dad's Schrades almost always had one, sometimes two blades with the tips broken. But they do take a great edge and hold up well.
