my most favorite edc is my schrade silhoutte.
I own much better knives than that, but for some reason cant stop carrying it.
I like the design and profiles, it locks up wonderfully with no blade play at all. and it only weighs 2.5 ounces

only things are, only AG russell has any information that i could find on the steel, and it says its 420. I believe that, cuz the edge never lasts very long.

the pocket clip sucks

and the worst thing is, the blade occationally bumps into the lanyard hole that also acts as a stand-off, puttin a severe dimple in the edge about 3 millimeters from the tip.

i should chuck the knife for that reason alone, but I CAN'T STOP CARRYING IT!!!
AND I CANT GET OVER IT!

just thought i would share.
anybody else have knives that they are embarrased to say that they carry?

I don't think there is any reason to be emberassed that you carry a Schrade knife. They make decent knives and I have a few myself. I guess the one knife I have that that would make knife people turn their noses up is a cheap CS Tanto ripoff. I've had it for about 12 years now and it's never failed me. It takes a good edge and eats up abuse. I take it camping and beat the crap out of it. For a knockoff it's actually held up extremely well.

o im not embarrased about it being a schrade, just the fact that it has that design flaw, that keeps puting dimples in the edge, but it guess its no different than an old lockback.

I've EDC a Schrade stockman since the 60s, Schrade made some great knives, I do prefer the traditional slipjoints though.

The steel in your knife is 420HC, IMHO a good commonly used steel for a working knife, not premium but not crap, not expensive but not a cheapo.

Use and enjoy your knife and feel free to visit over at the Schrade Collectors Forum for comments, history, etc..

thanks Don, that makes me feel 1000 times better.:)

still pissed about the dimple though...:grumpy: its been about a year and it still irks me.

You could always get "creative" and take a file to the offending part...make a notch for the blade.
