Greg,
I brought the Schrade tool about 6 months ago.I think its great. Its very strong and the tools come out of the handle without opening the pliers.I switch off with my leatherman Super Tool. For the price you can't go wrong.I purchased mine at K-Mart for about $50.00 and wouldn't think twice about getting another.Hope this was some help!

Greg,
I brought the Schrade tool about 3 months ago.I think its great. Its very strong and the tools come out of the handle without opening the pliers.I switch off with my leatherman Super Tool. For the price you can't go wrong.I purchased mine at Home Depot for about $50.00 and wouldn't think twice about getting another.Hope this was some help!

Hey, wait a minute! He just said that!

I still like the Supertool, and since the Schrade's tools came out so easily, I finally sat down and loosed up my Supertool, so it works much more smoothly now, too. The Schrade is actually bigger around than the Supertool becuse the handles are arranged for the tools to come out without first unfolding them. They both weigh about the same. The Schrade seems to be oriented toward cutting. It has a few interesting cutting blades, which turned out to be very handy.

I'm glad I got it, and it platoons with the Supe. I always carry at least one or the other.

The tough tool will always be my favorite.I've had mine about 4 yrs. and I work very well with it.Once you break it in and handle it enough, you can open it with one hand and do neat tricks flipping the pliers open!

I bought one at Home Depot for around 45.00.
Compared to my usual mulitools (a LM Wave and a Victorinox Swisstool) I would say that it was a basic piece of garbage. The fit and finish were horrible, many of the tools were worthless (ie a fishscaler). The knife blade was dull, very dull. (not a huge problem as a few minutes on a diamond benchstone solved that easily.)
The design was decent and it carried nicely in the supplied sheath. It is flatter and mucher wider (if that makes sense) than other tools.
I gave it to my wife who promptly lost it.
The Swisstool in particular is a much, much nicer tool.
Take care,
Chad

Thanks for all the comments.

I do have this tool. Bought it at Sears in sale for $30. Couldn't pass it up at that price. I actually like the tool. Makes sense how they engineered it. The biggest plus is you don't have to open the handle to get the tools out. I like the leather punch and scraper that comes with it. Haven't seen that before. It is kind of big so I only usually carry it on weekends and I carry my Pulse at work.

Appreciate all the comments.

The Craftsman Pro Multi-tool is also made by Schrade and it is similar. But it has Slip-joint pliers and a much better screwdriver system with real tool bits. Check it out if you like the Tough Tool it's a much improved version! You can get it on sale for about $49.00 during promos!

My perspective would be almost identical to Chad's described above. I gave it to a friend a couple of years ago and when I saw it about a year later it was significantly damaged. It had rusted significantly from just exposure to a humid enviroment (Malyasia), one of the screwdrivers was broken off, and the knife edge was dented/chipped and rolled. I meant to loan him my Supertool when he went back this time but forgot, it would have been interesting to see if it would have held up any better as tends to lean on his tools fairly hard.

I've got the little Tough Chip and I like it a lot. It is small enough that I don't mind carrying the sheath on my belt and has a useful assortment of small tools. The big hit is the tweezers which can be accessed without removing the tool from the sheath.

The larger version seemed a bit flimsy to me compared to my Gerbers. I took a pass but maybe I'll have another look since soem of you guys seem to like yours so much.
