Schrade Uncle Henry LB7 Buff horn

You have good instincts. The use of Buffalo Horn should have been a dead giveaway to me, but it didn't register.

I wish the person that was selling this knife was honest or at least up front on where this knive was made at. That is not asking too much.

Thanks for the vote of confidence redshanks. Being new to this forum I just wanted to make sure everyone knew it was from a trustworthy source. As far as the email address goes, you have to discuss that with my wife, we share email address for now, no secrets being kept from each other. After 17 years of marriage she should trust me by now.

Also, most (99.9 percent) if not all of this sellers future listings when it comes to Schrade knives will be made in China, that is what I gather from his email.

Tell me what I'm missing, nothing is really standing out to me.

1.The center backspring pin has been moved towards the back of the knife by just over ½” .
2.The blade is 1/8” shorter 3 9/16” verses 3 11/16”
3. All the visible pins brass and are thinner that the original.
4.The bolsters have sharp angles, not rounded at edges front and rear and the finish is brushed brass.
5. There is no pivot pin showing through front bolster.
6.The blade grind line starts lower towards the edge.
7. The Choil is a little longer.

This is the very reason why Larry and I have gone to the trouble to review these knives. The 171UH is also reviewed here. In every chinese copy we have examined, there are tell-tale differences.

Maybe we need a thread with a list of eBay sellers who are peddling these Red China knockoffs without stating clearly where they were made.
I looked at a couple ads today in which the only indicator was the box.
As the Tennessee Mafia progresses,I expect to see them reproducing old tang stamps exactly like the Ellenville stamps.
An example is Smoky's Schrade-Walden USA made by Camillus.Lots of new collectors will be fooled by this crap.I'll admit Camillus makes a good knife, but if I'm expecting to get a bonafide Schrade-Walden USA and I get a Camillus or Bear, that's counterfeiting.:thumbdn:
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!:D

This may be of interest, as it ( the horn scaled lb 7 ) appears it is a regular production knife, available at the online store recommended on the Taylor website.....

Well, well.....That link now goes to a page showing no products. I hope some of you got to see a horn handled lb 7, for $35.45, before it was removed.
I think if you root about the site you can still find it. WHATEVER.

If Mr. Taylor had indicated that this knife (the one he has for sale on ebay) was made in China, he would be lucky to get anything for it. I agree with Ron, maybe its time to start a China Schrade sellers list. I do not think its right that they can hide this info. when trying to sell a knife. That is why I always ask seller info. before I buy anymore. Even the ones I have a history of buying from.

Mr. Taylor left the part out about it being a geninue China made prototype! Wonder why??? I could only wish it was the only one ever made, period!!!

I will say that I have noticed a lot more sellers are starting to say in their descriptions Taylor made.Maybe these threads are having a positive effect on the sellers. They may see they can't slip one over on people. With the cheap prices that their junk is bringing on Ebay maybe they will think twice about stocking it.I agree with the list.Arnold

Scratching head...
Wow! Power sellers bidding $22.00 + shipping on a knife they could probably buy for $15.00...

That was a quick move, he is sharp for a first time seller.

The seller of this item according to the email he sent me is a gentleman named Carson Taylor in Kingsport, TN. I think he knows what he is doing.

Man oh man...

Now that, is about as lame as it gets. I hope that was a thrill to design. :barf:
