Hey, new to this board. I have a quick question. Did schrade make a Schrade make a X-Timer 60TX with a red handle or is this the Taylor made in China junk. Thanks.

They did make a 6OTX in red. The one I have was sent to me by a good friend.
Its a real pretty knife. I was going to use as a center piece surounded by all the other x's in black.
Tang stamp is Schrade + over U.S.A. 6OTX
with Xtimer stamped in white on the black blade.
Picture.???
Other colors 6OTXBU Royal Blue, 6OTXG Emerald Green, 6OTX Gunmetal Gray, 6OTXB Midnight Black.. Ill check for others

Sure.

Thanks for the info. I have a blue, green, black and two gray ones and just saw one on ebay and was not sure about it but took a chance and bid on it and was the winning bidder. I can't wait to add it to my collection. Just when I thought I had that series of Schade knives complete here comes another one.

mountaineergoldnblue,
Just when you thought you were done.. Ive said that so many times.
Its a never ending search.

The red version was for Sears there was also a version with a different clip for Bass Pro's

mountaineergoldnblue,
Welcome to the forum. There is lots to learn. That is a new one to me also. I have never seen the red.

Larry,
If you will get me the numbers for it I will add it to the list on the sticky thread. If the 60TX has a red, does the 70TX also have a red?
I have several of both series but if I was to use one I think I would prefer the &)TX series for the thumb notch (the proper term eludes me at the moment) on the back of the blade. Much better, IMHO, for heavier cutting chores.

mountaineergoldnblue, hang around & be a regular, you too will become a Schradaholic.

Welcome,
Dale

Thanks, I was very happy to find this forum. I started collecting Schrades almost 2 years ago. I purchased one at Home Depot, a Schrade Badger and now some 105 Schrade knives later here I am. Will post my Schrade journey later. Once again. Thanks.

ISC_RIP,
Great info on the Red and Bass Pro's. Might you have a pict of the Bass Knife's clip? See mountaineergoldnblue we aint done yet.
Dale,
I dont know the number for the red but at least we now have a home for it. Sears would have given it a number of its own.
As for the 7OTX's I have the see the same colors minus the red but I do not have the numbers. I'd guess they would be the same as the 6OTX's.

The Sears number eludes me still, but Schrade's number was 6OTXR (circa 2002). I cannot find a reference to a red 7OTX.

It came in the mail today, exactly as Irv described it. It is a really beautiful knife, then again I think all Schrade knifes are. It is stamped SCHRADE+ over U.S.A. 60TX. This will complete that series for me so on to another one. Thanks for the help on this one guys. I would have let it go and not bid on it without your info. Once again, Thanks. Jamie.

That Sir is a keeper. One of these days I might have something that nice in my fixed blade collection. My schrade collection which as of today now totals 108, 13 of which are fixed blades. I started out with folders for various reasons, space and the ability to pick them up somewhat at a fair price. My goal is to someday have every schrade model that they made and yes my wife thinks I have lost my mind. Of the 108 I own only 4 are the same model. I usually carry a Ducks Unlimited 97OT with me most of the time.

Another Schrade a holic the disease is spreading. As far as owning them all good luck I have been at it for 50 years and the conclusion I reached is that no one has them all from the beginning. Even the Schrade collection was missing examples especially of the older stuff. In fact several of the pieces in there collection I sold to them from my collection simply because they needed it. I get a kick when I see Smokey selling them. Sometimes I will email them or others who have bought parts of the collection and are selling it. If there is a blemish in a certain spot or some other recognizable flaw that they fail to mention in there ads. 108 is a good start. You will know when you no longer have any idea of how many you have that you are getting serious. Good luck in your quest and may your disease blossom and spread. LT

When you stop counting because it scares you to think just how many there are "You know your a Schradaholic"

We could do a whole comedy skit on this line like you know your a redneck if...

Speaking of the X-Timers;
My two nephews who are in the Navy spent the night here last night, while traveling through to visit my parents. Both are 2nd Class P.O.s. Paul is in engineering and works on the ships engines. Last summer I gave him a 70TXBU. He pulled it out and asked if I could sharpen it for him. Which I did. That knife has seen a lot of heavy use. About half of the black coating was gone from the blade, and it really needed sharpening. It came back razor sharp with a bit of work. There is no wobble or play in that blade at all! He said he LOVES the knife, and that he has really used it. I was really impressed with the way the knife had held up. He has obviously used it hard and it is still rock solid. He said he carried it everyday and uses it constantly.

I gave them both a Buck 110 in the presentation tin, for a late Christmas present. They liked them, but Paul said he will still carry only the Schrade 70TXBU as it will do anything he needs to do. I think there is a new Schradeaholic in the making. :D
