Well, as has been said, no they're not gone. I shouldn't say this to y'all 'cause there'll be more for me if I don't. They made lots of knives and they are still around (a lot).

Whenever anyone asks about a great, well built, budget slipjoint the real answer is yard sale, flea market, antique store, yadda, yadda, older folders. You simply can't beat them for the price. After you've looked for a little while you'll have found all you need. It doesn't take much effort. Schrade is common and the steel is nice.

If you've gotta buy a new knife Rough Rider makes a good'n. Opinel is a good steel for the dollars.

Yup, I'm prejudiced because they are using the Schrade name. I think there might be better new inexpensive slipjoints as well.

I know that you can still find as I got a good score at alittle flea market last year with a Multics tool and a couple of small knives.
I just meant the company is no longer in bussines.
and the lb7 my coworker has performs well for him and he seems to really like it. At the time he bought it he bought one for another guy we work with and he lost his.He just found a short while ago on a rock in his back woods. Afew swipes on a stone and it was as good as new.
so I cant personally speak for the newer folders the people I know that have them like them. So maybe there is some value there for the price.
If I'm not mistaken I think Taylor brands also makes Smith and Wesson knives
