Hi all,

I recently bought this anvil...I'm SO looking forward to bang hot steel on it :D

The bounce seems to be pretty good, and it apprears to be in great shape...but I'm far from knowing what I'm talking about - you guys let me know, please!

depending on weight, and what you paid for it, I'd say you got a pretty nice anvil. and the hardy tools look very useful.

congratulations

I didn't weigh it, but it is heavy and big :D

Should have measured it, though...I'd guess 20/24 inches long, from tip of the horn to the back.
I coulnd't see any inscription on it.

Price was $300, including the hardy tools.

Looks like a decent anvil. Might be a Peter Wright(looks a lot like mine).
I would say about 150-160#'s ...about 2 bucks a pound. I would say it's a score!

And its in good shape. Often all the edges are rounded and chipped out. Looks like you have some good crisp edges. I like the long narrow shape of the horn too. And all those hardy tools. Very cool score!

I agree with the rest of the fellows it is probably a P.W. a good score for that price:thumbup:. Mine is 150# and it is 26.5". So when sre you building the forge:p? I knew you would get the bug

Are you going to shoot it? ..........:D

Just kidding, good score.....

...and this is $300 Canadian :p Can't wait to hear it sing it's song

Bob: the forge is slowly coming together...in my head  I think I'll ask for hammers for Christmas :D

Can somebody explain what it might have been used for that would account for the tip of the horn being mushroomed like that?

I was thinking they smashed it in on purpose to keep from running into it?
