Scorpius: Should I Get One Before They're Gone?

I ask the opinion of you folks here on the Spyderco forum quite often, so I apologize if this is getting annoying. I value your opinions and experiences with the knives I'm trying to decide between and I want sound advice before I spend my hard-earned cash (especially with these godawful gas prices). So here it goes, again...

What is your opinion of the Scorpius? How are the ergonomics, the cutting performance, etc.? I know they are discontinued and I want to pick one up before they're gone if they have some merit...

Thanks for the help!

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

KATN,

Wade

They are great .looks kind of odd though. Fits the hand in different possessions great, good cutter also VG-10 steel.

I was not impressed by the ergos, and it's a hreavy slippery knife. Delica is better IMO.

I like the blade shape, but wasn't big on how it sat in my pocket. Good knife, overall, though.

Echo.
If you can find one cheap, and can grind some grooves/dots/etc to help with the grip, it might not be such a bad buy. That said, besides what DaveH has said, I thought the blade was nicely pointy, though not terribly well suited to fine/detailed cutting.

The ergos seemed more suited for large hands. It rides very high in the pocket. The blade geometry is great, though. Loved it for that, but ended up trading it to a guy with very large hands. He carries it very frequently. They're good knives, just have some quirks that you'll either really like or not.

If you gotta ask, the answer is yes.

If you get the knife and you don't like it you can always sell it or give it away.

If you don't get it you'll always wonder. And at some point you might end up getting it anyway after they've been discontinued and you'll pay twice as much for it.

I'm still kicking myself for passing up on the Temperance (especially the black blade version) and the Bob Lum Tanto.

I agree with Tonie Nichols, buy it, (if you can cough up the extra green), and see for yourself. Spydies always have 'some merit', so a clunker becomes a subjective thing.

BTW, I do not own one, however, I am considering a SE version for weak side carry. Why? Just because.

Get one!

It looks a bit strange, but IMO as soon as you hold this knife you just understand the design and start to like it.

It is a special one, even in the "special" lineup of Spyderco.
