Scotch-Brite Tutorial

I have added some pictures of the ASH-1 to the first post. I am no Lunde ;) but they will hopefully give you a little better idea of what the finish looks like after using the Sctoch-Brite flap wheel.

Picked up my flap wheel today and tried it out on my Cultellus. It did a fairly good job for having a rookie running the drill. The small thin blade made it kind of difficult to keep the wheel from jumping...but it definately looks better than it did.

Thanks again TL for the video...a huge learning experience.

That is a small blaed. You could try the same kind of flap wheel that is made for a dremmel tool. Much smaller so it might work with your blade better. And it should fit on the drill as well. ;)

Try http://www.mcmaster.com/

Its a huge industrial supplies site and carries almost everything that you need.

Search for things like "abrasive flap wheels", " flap wheel assortment", "scotchbrite abrasive pads"...etc

I can't find any flap wheels that actually have the Scotch Brite material in between the sand paper flaps. Local Home/Lowes/Depot don't have them. :grumpy:

Google searches bring up wheels w/o the Scotch Brite material between the flaps and that's it. :(

Thanks again TL!

And to all the others that added input...great thread:thumbup:

Okay, I just went to my local Merrit's/Ace Hardware and saw the drill attachments in stock. Here are the details:

Scotch-Brite 3M
Finishing Sanders
Part #'s: Fine = 9416NA, Medium = 9415NA
$8.99 ea.
toll free # = 1-800-494-3552

******************************

Earlier I saw these referred to as flap wheels but it looks to me like the flap wheels are just the ones with the strips of sand paper only. The ones I used are labeled "Finishing Sanders". I included the part #'s above for both the fine and medium grit sanders. The toll free number was the one on the back of the package and may help some of you regarding ordering them.

Here are some links to Ace Hardware that should help:
http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1287744
http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1340114

Let me know if this helps. I want to turn this into a link on our blog. But I want to make sure we have a verified source for these Finishing Sanders.

Thanks. :)

I noticed theat my local Lowes and Home Depot never carry them around me. I usually find them at the smaller stores like Ace. Not sure why.

But hopefully we can all just order them now.

Hey bro. You da man that started all this with yours long ago.:thumbup: Was that an SFNO you cleaned up BTW?

yep,,,i remember.

and yes,,,that was my SFNO "user" that i done the refinishing on when i did that thread,,it really came out great and got alot of feedback from others that tried it and also got great results with it also.

but i had looked at those disc's that you used in this video awhile back and was curious as to how good they would work ,but from what i seen in your video,,,they seem to do very well, so i'll have to give those a try sometime.

anyway,,keep up the experimenting, and keep up the great work on the videos,,
