The higher end scotches and bourbons have some cross over in flavors. I like scotch. Real peat scotch like lagavulin. But, if you like good bourbon lighter scotches like Aberlour and balvenie are great introductions. I have "sipping" bottles that last a long time. And some that don't. My favorite most well rounded scotch is highland park 18. My new favorite bourbons are basil Hayden and bulleit. Wow.
