Do you think that the large Owyhee would be too large for an EDC fixed blade. Would I be better off with the small Owyhee?

Thank you in advance...

The large Owyhee would make a great EDC knife. For some reason, these Owyhee hunters and the sheaths supplied with them, carry extremely nicely. I mean, they carry so well on your belt, you will literally forget you have the knife on your belt! That's the kind of knife I like to carry around. Go for it; you won't be disappointed.

I don't think of the "large" as anything but larger than the "small". It is not a large knife to me. In fact, I wish it had a 5 inch blade! ...but I sure do like Scott's work. I'm a practical sort of guy, retired military. I always think of my knives in relation to "could I carry this knife for military field duty?" So I have shied away from wood or stag handles, beautiful as they may be. ...but when I saw Scott Cook set up at a Boise sportsman's show, I had to look, and he had an ironwood handle that was so beautiful, I had to have it. If I remember correctly, it is the one used for the picture on his website, full ironwood slabs, not shrunken, in S30V. If it had a tapered tang, it would be very near perfect!

He's a very skilfull maker, much attention to detail, and I expect if he branches out to a couple of alternative blade shapes and lengths, he'll be an even more sought after maker.

Go with the large Owyhee, you can do more with it, like it's been said it's only larger then the small one, not large at all IMO too!

I recently handled a large, and as a result, and almost immediately bought a small, which has turned out to be plenty for my EDC knife jobs, and even most of the things I need a blade for at work. It is indeed "small", though, as I have small hands, and it just fits.
I don't think the large would be too big to carry, and it would probably fit most people better.

This is an extremely nice knife with wonderful grinds, ergonomic handles that appear to be perfectly symmetrical and incredible fit/finish.
I will probably buy a large, too, even though I don't need it.
Just too hard to resist such an incredible knife for such a reasonable price...

The large versus small applies only in relation to the respective knives. Yes, the large is "larger" but, I stil consider it a small knife overall.
