Scott Cook Lochsa Folder

I probably will never be able to own a Lochsa folder but the closest is my sebenza. I understand he worked for CRK before going on his own. His folder looks very much like a sebenza except for the contours on the handle and the one piece handle. In all honesty, to whoever owns or used both folders, is the Lochsa twice as good as a sebenza??

Scott was making knives on his own long before he went to work for CRK. This is a knife he made for me back then.

Oh, I did not know that. It's just that his folder has some CRK influence, not belittling his talent or skills as I wish i could afford his folders. Not that it would do any good.

The Lochsa is just an extraordinary knife. Arguably one of the best carry knives ever. A knife to pass on to your kids.

alejandrino - It would be hard to quantify twice as good. I had a woodie sebenza prior to the lochsa, and the lochsa was definitely worth it to me. My large woodie in BG-42, if I recall correctly, actually cost more back when I bought it, than the lochsa today. I had handled the regular sebenza on numerous occasions, but they never got me to hand over the cash. I warmed up to the woodie, and did pay the big buck for that one. The woodie sebenza only kept me satisfied for a short time. I sold the woodie, and continued my quest. After getting this lochsa, I can only say, that I feel it was a bargain, and the sebenza was overpriced.

Scott was the shop foreman at CRK, if I remember correctly.

Sebenzas are an excellent knife. I have a few. Are Lochsas worth the price differential? Ignoring the completely subjective nature of that question, absolutely.

I've been on Scott's list for a year now.
I have a small classic with ebony & gold inlay and a large LE with ironwood inlay, and love them both.

Still...,I can't wait until my Lochsa is finished.
I've also never handled one but I know without a doubt that it will be one of the finest knives that I will own and perhaps the end of my search for the perfect EDC.

I only wish I would have ordered more than one. They are that nice.
Dave.

Ditto. That's the problem. I'd love to use this knife, but just can't 'cos I know there is just no way I can get a replacement. I've ordered and bought my last three knives with the honest intention to use them, but when I eventually get them it was just so hard/long to get hold of them that I can't turn them into users. Oh well, back to the SnG :(

I need a nice belt pouch/sheath for mine. Any recommendations?
Dave

rugbymatt - Does yours have the pocket clip? I did not have one put on mine, I did not want to obstruct the lines of the knife, even though it would be practical. Another reason that I didn't put it on, is because I almost lost my Sebenza on a number of occasions, due to slippage. It didn't grip my pocket hard enough to hold, even though I tried to get it to. It really needed some type of gripping feature milled into the frame IMO.

Yes mine has a clip, I don't think it takes away from the lines too much. The clip itself is very sturdy, but is not the tightest clip to the pocket that I have. I enclosed a picture so you would know what it looked like. For me I have never lost a knife because of the clip, but I can understand your concern.

Pic of clip side.

I like it with the clip!! I believe I ordered mine WITH a clip too. Thanks for the pix.

rugbymatt - The clip does look nice. The tip up carry, would also keep most of the weight deep inside the pocket, to add some security. Thanks for the pictures. Sweet. :)

I've waited 2 years and 4 months and no Lochsa :( I was hoping it would arrive for Xmas. I can't get a hold of Scott via e-mails, either. Anyone have the same experience?

Indenial -
I kept in touch every few months via email, which is what Scott suggested when I placed my order, and I ordered a lefty version!!! Scott would respond fairly quickly. A couple times during the wait, he may have been out of town, at show or something, but I got it in about 2 years. I really wish I had ordered two:) or even more.
Dave.
