On 4-19 -00 I answered an ad in the knives for sale forum. Mr. Scott McDonough[I cant recall his user name] offered a Benchmade 812hss. for sale. I responded by E- mail and made him an offer for $5.00 less than his asking price of $75.00. he responded back in one hour ,and we agreed on $70.00.He said he would let me know when he received my postal money order and ship then . i received an e-mail 4-24 00 saying my Mo. was received and knife would ship on 4-25-00.I have not received the knife, and four e- mails I have sent have been unanswered. Scott lives in Ohio and I live in Penna. so any delivery service he may have used should have had delivered by now.I called Elyria Ohio phone information with the adress and name i used for shipping and was told no one with that name was listed at this adress. Maybe someone that knows Scott McDonough can shed some light on this situation. Thanks David Spada stada@erols.com

i know scott fairly well and i have had multiple deals with him. fact i may have sold him that knife you are in need of. anyways this is very surprising to me. he generally responds to my e-mail very quickly.
i can see if i can get ahold of him and see if i can get nay info on this. but this is certainly not like scott.

good as the best and better then the rest.

Scott forgot my m/o had arrived but then he is expecting a baby soonish. Still reasonably confident my knife will arrive...

i dont know who Ferret is . Maybe he is also waiting for a knife from Scott. His post has nothing to do with mine! If that is the case maybe he should make his own post as not to be confused with mine. I still have not received a knife or a return e- mail David Spada stada@erols.com

Spada, I think he was just trying to let you know you are not alone and the fact there are other circumstances that could be causing the delay and the lack of contact. If Mark vouches for him I'm sure this guy will take care of you, as I trust Mark's judgement. So I would take a deep breath and give it a bit more time.

Once you get the knife, you'll have if for a very long time, much longer than the wait. I know waiting can be frustrating to say the least!

Whoa! Back the truck up there Spada!

First- I do owe you an apology- and a big one at that. My apologies also to Mr. Duane McCord, as well as to Jerome Krueger. Through a set of rather ridiculous f*!@ ups on my part- you have not received the knives as promised. (I will do my best to e-mail each one of you individually, however, my e-mail service is acting funky as of this evening)

All of the above mentioned parties were to have received knives from me. However, as I was extremely busy with work and continue to be- I asked my wife to take care of packaging up the knives and sending them out. And I was late in doing even that, I admit. Believe it or not, I'm usually very prompt. So, a week and a half ago or so, I get the call that I'm going to Argentina and off I go. While I was there, I phoned my wife at work to let her know I was still alive, and asked if she'd gotten to the post office yet. She said she would that morning- as she is a nurse and is working third shift. Ok, fine I thought.

Jump ahead to this afternoon, when I get home. I'm on the phone with some colleagues going through a debriefing of the trip when my call waiting beeps through. I click over and some one identifying themselves as Gary Graley is telling me some guy named Stada is calling me out on the forums. Quite surprised, I check my e-mail, which shows all kinds of messages- although I can't open them yet. (I'm sure they're full of kind words though) I knew something must be up, so I call my wife at work and ask if she did in fact get to the P.O. There was a pause then an expletive. So as of right now, this very instant- they are sitting in the trunk of my wife's 1996 Ford Contour.(it's blue, anyone want the license plate number? Might go nicely with my phone number...)

Yes, I realize you still don't have your knife Dave, but you will shortly. I'm sorry- really- I know I'm the one who made the mistake but I cannot change what has happened. It was my responsibility to make sure you got the knife as well as these other two guys- both of which were counting on me with even more money at stake. I regret my carelessness in this matter and again I must apologize.

I have made deals here on the forums since October of 1998, and have always felt those transactions went well. It is my fear that this incident will sour other's tastes for doing business with me. However, if it does then I am certainly mature enough to sleep in the bed I've made.

I will run to the P.O. sometime between 8 and 9 am tomorrow morning and will make sure all the knives go out. I will also assign delivery confirmation numbers to them and will contact you with those numbers. If I cannot e-mail them to you, then I will post them here.

My thanks to Mark and Ferret for speaking up for me in my absence, as well as to Gary Graley, who seems to have good intentions- although I'm still a bit urked he contacted me like that. Gary- I understand and can appreciate your efforts, I just hope you are not being overzealous with any of my personal information you may have.

It is my sincere hope that this response will at least in some small way put to rest the notion that I am some troll out to schill folks out of their money. My sincerest apologies once again- if I had a tail it would surely be between my legs.

Oh, and Ferret- your Goddard Jr. is in fact in transit- I hope you'll see it shortly.

My thanks for your time and patience-

Scott

Scott I accept your apology, Perhaps I may have jumped the gun in posting in the GBU. forum, but the time that had elapsed seemed to me excessive (eight days) without an e- mail.I didnt want to imply you were a troll or anything like that. When you are able to read your e-mails you will see there are no nasty e-mails from me, I just asked what was going on. thanks David Spada

David-

Well, you're absolutely right-the elapsed time was/is excessive.

I thank you for responding to my reply and for accepting my apology. I'm certainly glad we can work this out. It's always nice to see these matters being handled in an adult fashion- the last thing this forum needs is another flame war.

Thank you David-

Scott

hey scott, no need to e-mail me if you can't get your mail to work....this thread pretty well says it all. thanks for the apogee, can't wait to get it!! dmc (duane)

Ah, I see Clip Point has retained his honor when it was questioned. Good for him.
I just wish Andrew Gleason could have done the same.

Good post.
Glad to see things worked out.

The lesson to me is that in our high tech world of email, fax's, cell phones etc, we get use to instant information and results, but it is a double edge sword (pardon pun) in that when things crash and they do, we can all get impatient.

Bottom line is even in our high tech world it still comes down to individual respect, responsibilty, and honor.

Sorry for the speech, it's just good to see things when they work out.

OK-

Sorry I'm a little late in the day posting this, but here are the delivery confirmation numbers. You may or may not receive a similar e-mail from me- I'm still not sure if my messages are sending. Anyways-

David Spada: 0304 7990 0004 0844 3177

dmc: 0304 7990 0004 0844 3160

Jerome Krueger: 0304 7990 0004 0844 3184

You can check the status via the following link: http://www.framed.usps.com/cttgate/welcome.htm

You probably won't get a confirmation right away, it usually takes a little while to get the numbers into their system.

My thanks again to you for your patience and understanding.

Regards,

Scott

(BTW, I sent them all Priority Mail)

Clip - I hate to tell you this, but it ain't too hard to find out your name and address on the web. I found it in less than 30 seconds. "Personal" doesn't exactly mean personal, ya know?

Gee, thanks, Senator....

Gary and I have already spoken about this. We're fine.

It had less to do with the ability to obtain the information and more to do with the application of said information. "Personal" was perhaps an improper term, I suppose. It's over and done with- but again thanks for your vigilance.

I know how you feel, Clip. It sucks when people try to look out for your best interests.
