Nice picture, Scott. I believe the more the knife is handled and used, the more uniform the stag will get, ultimately, it should turn into a true dark amber from the oils in your hand.

That's for sure, it's a deadly bit of work. The handle is a little longer than I normally make them, as I remembered you said you have large hands. If it ever needs sharpening send it back.

I'll be doing some large bowies next, probably around 10-14" blades. Not nearly as quick as yours, but they will have brute chopping power, and they are always fun to make.
