It's turning out pretty well. It always amazes me how the Izula can handle any task you throw at it.

UMMM, isn't your kid supposed to do the work on the pine wood derby car he's running? Or is this for the "Dad's Division"?

Actually, its a joint Father - Son project (work together) ... But certainly the boy should do what he is able (age appropriate)...

I read he is doing the Dad's division.. so the sky is the limit..

you did that with only using the izula? WOW! thats awesome. having been a scoutmaster myself, i know what goes into one of these. that might be the best one i have ever seen! i have always thought the izulas would make a pretty fair whittilin knife. especially with the pinky hole for controlability. unfortunately BSA has a no sheath knife rule. i think it's gay, but there would be 12 year olds running around with junglas pulling their pants down if they did not have that rule. i have seen some pretty unsafe folders in these kids hands, the BSA should adopt the izula as their official knife.
awesome job on the car!

BSA does NOT have a no sheath knife rule... Sheath knives are prohibited for Cub Scouts, and discouraged from Boy Scouts... Boy Scouts are still taught sheath knife use, care and handling. The Safe Guide to Scouting simply states that they are not needed and therefore discouraged. It is left to individual units to decide, although most, including mine, do not allow them to be carried on person.

Very nice work!

A bit of advice: Keep your son's pine wood derby cars so that if he achieves the rank of Eagle, you can proudly display them at the ceremony. :D

Nice! I still have my cars from 20 years ago, too. Scary, now that I think about how long ago that was.

I can't wait to get my Izula II, I'm very impatient (HEY TOMMY!!! you get my money yet?!?!)

I was just wondering the other day if the BSA still had this rule, I remember thinking as a kid that it was a dumb rule as some of my favorite knives growing up were fixed blades

there needs to be more scouting programs that arent CHURCH sanctioned. Great PWD car man. thing's gonna run faster than greased owl poop.

Nice work, man! After seeing how much finesse one can achieve with the Izula, I think I may need to pick one up for myself. Thanks for the inspiration!
