I am looking to see if anyone can sell (PayPal preferred) me a small piece of Titanium to experiment on. All I need is a couple of square inches to try my hand at different finishes. I am refinishing the bolsters and clip on a beautiful cutom knife and went through first bringing them to a high polish - didn't seem right, then went the DIY stonewashed route and I couldn't get it as perfect as the knife deserves so I polished it back up and toned it down with Scotchbrite. I found the best results by first going one direction then hitting it lightly at 90 degrees. Although I think it came out nice RE3.JPGI'm not quite done yet and what I wanted from the start was to try an orange peel finish.

There isn't a whole lot of info I could find on DIY orange peeling so I was first just going to try a wire cup on a drill and see the results I could get with that method. Please let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks

It would be cool if you posted pix of the various effect you get with description as to how you got them.

Stan, if you want, I can send him some. I've still got a drawer full of scraps.

For a good orange peel,l try sand blasting or for a bit rougher look, borrow someone's needle scaler.

Thanks Stan, and also zaph1 for the offer. I don't have many tools at my disposal so I'm just going to try and see what can be done with the bare minimum.

I will post pics and hopefully solicit some opinions of the progress.
