Scrap Yard Knives Is Proud To Introduce Their Latest Model: "The Dirty Trick 12" Coming Sunday May 1, 2022 at 9:00pm Eastern

I wonder if any of these will have the handle replaced with a custom hidden tang handle.

Seems like an interesting starting point for some cool customization.
I hadn't even thought of That.....good call!

That's what I was thinking, I like the blade but I'm not sure about the handle ( I haven't held a TNT15) . I may love it and if not I can try my hand at making a custom hidden tang...

I think the handle is a solid mate, my only gripe is the large choil and wished is was more like the TNT-15 or SYKCO 1111/1311 just to be as unobtrusive as possible. This one presents a very large snag hazard, which on such a big blade could be a big deal in hard use.

I’ve often thought about having someone put a stacked leather handle on a DS8 and at one point even had a thread in the makers section requesting it. That said, I really like the handle in the TNT so I am looking forward to checking it out on this knife.

Wow we have drifted far away from the original Busse TGLB and Battle Mistress.
These kitchen knives are so blah.
Why not offer up what Busse lovers really want like the Argonne Assault or Flak Jack?

1) because variety! Change can be good. Think of it as blade evolution. Some changes might stick around, while others don’t. Won’t know if certain changes are good until we try’em!
2) because these aren’t Busse… they’re SYKCO.

Not sure if this was a joke, because it seems wrong on every count.
If you think the TGLB was "the original Busse" you were very late to the game.
I don't have many kitchen knives made from 0.27" stock. This is a 12" chopper. What's not Bussekin about that? I'd see it as being closest to a 1311 (a little shorter and a little wider), which was a very popular blade - loved for its performance.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt the Argonne Assault was a great seller for Busse. I sold an Argonne Attack once, and I don't remember it flying off the shelf.

As long as the edge isn't too thick (and that isn't usually a problem with SYKCOs), I think this will be a very good chopper for its weight. I just don't really understand the handle. I'm not sure it's the best shape for a 1-handed, blade-heavy chopper, and conversely, if going with the TNT handle, keep it long (or make it full 2-handed) for a really epic chopper.

I like that new handle... the TNT15 is fun. Please do not forget about the classic Mil Regulator... and also, bring back some regular SYKCO 7" blades with the bowie swedge.... think about a 711 bowie tip redo. SUCH a great LIGHT knife that was gorgeous even though it was a SYKCO.

I like the TNT handle, I'm just not sure it's being used to the best advantage. A 5" version would be good on a quick and pointy blade with a neutral balance. A long version of the handle would be good on a heavy chopper because the neutral shape would provide a lot of grip versatility.

I'm not saying the handle won't work on the DT12, just that it'll leave it fairly blade heavy (not a terrible thing on a chopper, but makes it a little less versatile), and that you'd probably want to be using a lanyard when doing a lot of heavy chopping with it, because it might not be the most secure in a tired, sweaty hand.

Help please, gents!

Forgive me for my insolence, but it’s been a handful of years since I’ve purchased a new blade offering like this through bladeforums. Can y’all give me a brief run down on the procedure?? From what I remember, I respond at the given date/time, “I’m in”.. and I give the quantity and specifics as far as finish configuration? Please let me know!! I gotsta get in on this run!!

I'm bored, up drinkin' a little Jack and enjoying a little pinch of Cope. So, I thought I'd throw-in my $0.02...

I'm a child of the 70's and a teen of the 80's. I grew-up drooling over blades from Jimmy Lile and Jack Crain, and am even old enough to remember the whole Mick Dundee, "That's not a knoif, THAT'S a knoif" thing when it was still in the theatres. So, I'm a sucker for large outdoor/"wilderness"/"survival" type fixies, and REALLY have an (*economically bad) obsession with hard-use blades in that category. I reckon that would explain my compulsion with the TOPS 107, Becker BK-9, T.M. Hunt Big Bear, Barky Crusader, Ontario RD-9, and my Busse Hell Razor 2...all of 'em AMAZING blades in my humble opinion, and all incredible performers.

Beyond the above, I'm also really a sucker (*aesthetically) for a "tall" blade...what many refer to as blade "width"...in the above category. So, this little "Dirty Trick 12" is screamin' at my VERY SOUL. (*In fact, I just recently described a similar knife in the "Your Dream Buck" thread) I don't own a "TNT", so I can't speak to the handle. However, I hope to score a few of these DT-12s, if that's in my future and I'm fortunate enough...and dream that they will end-up being some of my "grail" knives. As was mentioned by JACKMANDU, because of the SR-101/Resiprene C combo, a coated blade (*here in humid South Texas) will be an absolute necessity.

To be completely honest with y'all, I'm counting the seconds down to 8 o'clock Central tomorrow (*"today"), and can hardly wait to get mine. The numbers/"specs" keep telling the butterflies in my stomach that I probably won't be disappointed. A 270-thousandths, full flat, SR-101 "atom bomb"? C'mon man...
