Scrap Yard Regulator-Bayonet Mod

Interestingly, when Dan first announced the original Test Team version of the Regulator, the very first comment posted by anyone had to do with the need to reinforce the guard. After that, the unreinforced guard became a point of such serious contention that at least one individual was banned from the forum for voicing his objection to it a little too strenuously. Fortunately, that person wasn't me. :)

Resiprene C is tough stuff. It's NOT Kraton- that guard isn't going anywhere. Nobody is going to push it out of the way with their thumb, I don't how strong you are. Anyone who has handled one of these knives will know this to be true. The handle on the Regulator is superb.

I also like the feel of the handle. I had a chance to check it out at the last Blade West show. But to me, a rubber guard on a Busse knife is an oxymoron. I just can't reconcile that notion any more than I can reconcile the notion of buying a Busse blade that doesn't come with a stem to stern warranty.

Based on what's coming, I guess I won't be buying any Scrap Yard knives from the factory in the immediate future either. ;)

I wasn't worried about a thumb moving the guard.

And neither was I. IMO, nuclear tough knives should come with nuclear tough parts and nuclear tough warranties . . . no exceptions.

Agreed, but if I did buy the unmentioned blade in question, I would probably make a custom handle with more shape anyway. Plus, it would give me something else to wrap. Yeah, I'm hooked on cord wraps. Just love the feel.

I think that makes a very good choice of a blade for a bayonet. Beefy, strong, good point. I like the mod alot-how rigid is the blade when mounted? Is there much wobble?

Minimal wobble when fixed. It has the exact same wobble as an issue M7 bayonet, which I used for parts.

Now that is a bayonet that isn't going to break at a bad time... I have to agree with bld522's comment about the missing guard off the Reg'. If you are going to go around stabbing things metal between edge and fingers is a must have. The Swamp Rat Knives Battlerat had a lug guard AND a steel disc guard, the Reg' just has res-C lugs!? Very safe in very cold weather then- NOT... The Reg' with lug guards like Dan's new waki design would have been perfect. As is, Jarhead has the ONLY good Reg' there is imho. I really wonder why the military took the Reg' over the SOD. Strange. Then again, if it's like over here, the 'pencil pushers' pick the kit for the troops, the only knives they use are Victorinox's at best! Anyway, back on track, superb mod on the Reg' mate! :)

RIP SY MustardMan. D: WHY!?

It's a long story, Micro-Bevel. You can dig it out of the Scrap Yard forum if you're so inclined. But I don't believe anything would be served by repeating it here.
