Scratching CRK's

'Good thread for me to read right now. Getting ready to go out for a full day off and it will be my second carry for my new 25. My wife cracks my agates for "aging" knives but this one has been bought to use. A lot of my ZT's and spydies are destined for the drawer. Russ

Yep. Looking to scratch this one even more. No safe queens for me.

Looks like clips get the most character. I couldn't even tell you what it's hit. Maybe the seatbelt in my car?

I do as well. I have always said every scratch or scuff on my sebenza is an adventure I had with my sebenza....!!!

There is a mark on one of my Sebies from showing-off.
When the knife was given to me for my b-day, the family wanted to take a look.
So the knife was handed around and admired and when it finally came back to me, it had what looked like a scratch.
Looking closer I found it was not a scratch exactly, but a thin line of gold.
My assumtion is, that while handling some kind of ring made that mark.
Whenever I pick it up and use it, I'm thinking of that evening.

My sebenza was pretty much new when I got it about 3 weeks ago! All my knives are used some just more then others, pretty much everyday I have had this it has rode on my side!

They are meant to be used, this one looks like it's been stonewashed from all the scratches I've put on it, looks kind of cool IMO

I like the idea that the knife will last indefinitely. Meaning it will have a ton of character but still function and cut like new. Kind of like your favorite ratchet. It was once pretty, but after use you've damaged the surface but deep down it's the one you always go for because it functions the best. Mines got a few new scratches. It was at the beach yesterday as well.

I use my knives but they never get that scratched up at all, because i carry in the waist band, and when i carry in my pocket i don't carry anything else in that pocket, no change, wallet, phone, keys ect. So scratches on my CRK's have always been very minimal, unless i got it second hand and already scratched up.

I don't have any pics, but you folks should see the XM and Seb that I'm carrying over here.

I am a new Seb owner (only about a week now--Large 21 Insingo)... and I think these scratches look great. I'll admit the first mark I got on mine (it's been in the pocket all week, so yeah, I've already got a couple of marks) was tough... but now that it's been "christened" I figure no worries... bring 'em on!!! :) Think it gives 'em great character. :)

Great pics guys.

I like the marks I've got on mine
Except for a scrape I got dropping my 25 on bathroom tile :(
It's all cool though, it will all blend in!

I dropped my victorinox centurion on the bathroom tile installing an outlet cover. It fell pivot side down and bent in the aluminum layer separator. I was pretty upset. Accidental damage isn't welcome on my seb. Just usage character.

A scratch is nothing, I dropped mine on a tiled floor (one of many times now :p) and it landed on the corner of and dented the recess for the thumb stud/stop pin. That messed with the lock up but it was an easy fix, luckly. I do see that as a rather soft pont on the Umnumzaan though as more serious damage to that area could see the knife unuseable.
