This is the second day it's happened. After opening and closing the knife to try and work it in the screw/pivot is getting looser and looser. Why is this happening and how can I prevent it?

First, is the sebenza assembled properly...? No pinched washers...?? If everything is okay, you can try some of the blue loc-tite on the screw like what is supplied with the umnumzaan. It is temporary hold and will basically hold the pivot bushing in place. Or, just contact CRK and send it in as its covered under the warranty.

I took apart and put a bit of mineral oil in the washers. How do I tell if they're pinched?

If you can tighten the pivot screw all the way down and the blade is adjusted perfectly...chances are it is put together properly.

Teflon tape works well on pivot screws that loosen. I haven't used it on a Sebenza, but have on a couple other folders and it works great..

I've been using blue loctite on folders for years. Good stuff! Trick is getting you components clean and then apply a very small dab of the locktite. After I set the tension to where I want it, I then put the knife down and away for a day, just to insure the locktite is sufficiently dry.

I have, too, but (I want to tread lightly here) I have never had to use Loctite on a Sebenza. I think the OP may not have tightened the pivot appropriately.

A Sebenza does not need any loctite on any screw. I suggest taking it apart and putting it back together carefully.

Screws are screws, and they do come loose, even on our perfect Sebenzas. I have had a few that became loose over time from whatever reason. Use a tiny bit of loctite and all's well:)

Ask for a new screw, yours may not be perfect, can happen
But first, take it apart, clean, lube and reassemble it :-)

Is it a newer knife? The screw in the stop pin on my Large Insingo kept coming loose until I had taken it apart and put it back together a few times, as if it wore in just a little and enough to stop coming loose.

CRK says don't use loctite. It's not needed for the sebenza.

CRK says don't use oil use their lube. Maybe you got mineral oil on your screws.

Send it back, CRK will make it right if you can't do it yourself.

Thanks guy! I'm getting some crk lube this week. I'll take it apart and do it right. Also have a large snakewood coming this week! :D

I don't think the mineral oil is the problem frankly. I had mineral oil on mine for about two weeks, no problems with pivot loosening. Probably opened it a couple hundred times over those two weeks. Of course CRK wants you to use his lube ;) I've also used blue lube, corrosion x and crk fg on mine. No problem with pivot loosening with any of them. I don't think the lube is the problem, unless of course you got some inside the screw (which has already been stated).

if not the lube, then maybe a stripped screw? my sebenzas range from 04-12 and no problems with any of the pivots. hope you get it fixed
