Cool, dedicated political discussion! Yes, according to the media, Nader spoiled the Democratic party votes. Specifically now, how are we advantageous with GW in the White House, as opposed to Al Gore? Don't get me wrong, I did not vote for Gore, but I never really heard both of these people speak in detail on issues I find important, such as illegal immigration, for one example.

WooHoo. Thanks Florida.

Al Gore may think he invented the internet, but tonight he learned what the W W W means

The single biggest irony is who cost 'em the election in the end.

See, the FL Dems should have been able to count on the Cuban/Hispanic vote, they've had a lock on it for years. But the Cubans voted GOP in droves.

Why?

ELIAN.

So who cost Gore the election and Clinton his "legacy"?

Janet "Jackboot" Reno

I love it. BITTER irony, wonderful payback after Ruby Ridge and Waco.

OK, lemme tell you what we've won:

1) The BIGGIE is that since Bush is inexorably linked to gun rights due to his leadership role in TX CCW, we've won a national referrendum on RKBA. We've caused twits like Schumer, DiFi, Lautenberg and the rest to SHUT THE HELL UP at least for now, and possibly forever if we can get some momentum going.

2) We've won Supreme Court justices who are likely to take a "strict constitutional" view. This will benefit RKBA, but also have the effect of limiting Fed power. And that's a GOOD think

.

3) We've won a reform of all Fed law enforcement, starting with Janet Reno and working all the way down through the FBI, DOJ, Border Patrol and the rest. Worried about immigration? Cutting the corruption and moral loss at the border patrol will help more than almost any other single factor.

4) With an all-GOP WashDC, we may be able to roll back some gun control. Maybe not until after the Supremes chime in but that's OK, we can wait that long because Bush likes the right type of Supremes.

In Calif, things aren't so good. It appears we didn't take back the Assembly. Expect more on this in the Politics forum over the next two days, I'll be re-broadcasting stuff off of an NRA private mailing list.

Holy Mother of God!!!!

It's 4:30 am Eastern, and still undecided with the Florida vote seperating by 600 votes! The recount could take days. Not to mention the recount from other states.

The prediction is that Bush might get the Electoral votes while Gore the popular vote. Those military absentee ballots just might decide this election!

Is politics ALWAYS this exciting?

Having a hard time finding any humor in this, right now.
I don't know if there is a limit on recounts or any way to keep it honest.
It is truly sad that our country has degressed to the point that there would even be a question.
Of course, the last two elections were proof of how little morals, family, and freedom mean to most of "us".

The idea of Gore as President of these United States is unbearable. The idea that he has apparently won the popular vote is unbelievable.

This is pathetic.

Praying that tomorrow will see the end of this (and in our favor, naturally).

It's down to 200 votes, however there are approximately 5000 oversea ballots still waiting to be counted.

According to the latest on the wire, the Bush-Gore fight will be decided at the last minute of the last round.

I have not seen an election that close. A lot of people are losing sleep over this presidential election.

I suppose that's what democracy is all about.

America is split right down the middle as far as the two candidates are concerned.

How about making each candidate serve two years as US President and the other guy the last two years - just to be fair. Look at the electoral votes. The people apparently want both of them that bad!

It was as close as 224 votes . . . so far. Currently Bush is up by like 900. Their still opening ABs and as E_Wok mentioned, may be getting out of country ABs for the next ten days. Talk about pulling your hair out.

All I can say is I put my vote in and in case there's any doubt . . . it was a Bush vote.

I can do no more.

You know the worst part? Their saying only 50% of Americans voted. Where was everyone else? I mean, I know there were some people in Comas, some that were in terrible accidents on the way to the polls, heck, I'm even willing to accept that some people actually died today, perhaps even before voting . . . . but where was everyone else?

sorry guys, florida is stil up for grabs, even this morning.aparently there was some suspicion to floridas votes.i agree with john boy and billy-NATIONAL DO-OVER!

Hmm, this makes me think.

If only 50 % of the americans voted and not even half of the votes go to each of the main candidates, that's 25 % of the americans who really want to have one of them for president. Wouldn't it be better if the elections were cancelled and the political parties started looking for someone with a little bit more support from the people?
