Does anybody know what size screwdriver works on a thumb stud for Cold Steel? None of my screwdrivers fit. So I figured, before I boogered it up. I figured it'd be better if I asked maybe I can get it off. I know I'm going to booger it up. Are they numbered? Thank you for your responses in advance

The screws for the thumb studs on my Ti-lite 6 and Ti-lite 4 are both T6 torx.

Mine have regular slot screw. Do screwdrivers come in numbers? I wish mine was Torx but it's not. All of my cold Steel knives have slots. I also understand that they have red Loctite from the factory

While I don’t know how to tell you what size to use (sorry), I can tell you to make sure you hold the opposite side with a piece of rubber tightly with a pliers or you’re going to scratch/mar the heck out of your thumb studs. Are you installing a SnaggleTooth?
What I do is use the rubber piece he sends for the Frenzy, put that over the opposite side stud without the screwdriver cutout, and then push down hard as heck with your flathead and twist. But yes, you need one thin enough to fit in there, and thick enough to take up the whole slot, or you’re going to end up making a mess of the studs

I think I'll take the knife to the hardware store and see what they can tell me. They probably have the correct screwdriver I need.

I hope it works out! Let us know. I’ve gotten used to reversing studs for lefty carry (Recon 1 with the uneven studs for example) and also installing my SnaggleTeeth. I wish I could post a video but I’m too ‘boomer-tech’ 😂😂😂
Also in my experience it has been blue loctite so it may not be as bad as you’re expecting.

Well I could screw up a Soup Sandwich.:)

I got these from a gunsmith supply company. It’s important to use the correct size on antique firearms.
That sounds like a very interesting collection and hobby. Do you mind if I ask what is your favorite cap and ball revolver? I always like the Army model. Never cared much for the 1858 Remington.

In the bit set that I have, the #5 fits perfect. I guess the 5 refers to it being 5mm wide, and it's about 0.8mm thick according to my caliper. But not sure how standard they are across the industry.

What knife is this for? In the 20 or so Voyagers, Recon 1’s and Broken Skulls I’ve done Snaggletooth thumb studs on, all of them required a soldering iron held on the other side of the thumb stud till hot to the touch on the slot side, to be able to be unscrewed without damage to the slot.

I tried pliers with rubber, tried using the plastic tubing the snaggleteeth come with, nothing worked right without applying heat. Would mess up the slot every time until I used heat, and I have the hand strength to really drive into them. All of them just had blue lok tite, yet very stubborn.

Haven't actually removed the studs, but have turned them so that the slot is parallel to the spine or top of the grind (yes I have some ocd).
