Although I am NOT a huge fan of cutting with a grinder, they are designed for such use. The 6" Metabos are use that way almost exclusively. They make cut off or slicer disks for 4 1/2, 6 and 7 1/2 grinders. usually around .045 thick. I have cut lots of pipe with them. Use your guard, safety glasses and a face shield. Heavy shirt. KEEP THE GUARD BETWEEN YOU AND DISK. Light pressure. Straight lines only. Don't flex the disk.

I hate it because of the sparks, the grit. Kind of a tool of necessity to me. I usually use something else.
