I have had and enjoyed knives as long as I can remember.
Why have I just now discovered that I love SE !

The knife destroyes its opponents instantly.
Post some SE that I should be considering.

Thanks

Assuming SE = serrated edges, I like Spyderco's serrations for utility and durability, and Cold Steel's serrations for their astounding needle-like sharpness. Both companies make many models in PE and SE, so you're spoilt for choices in either case.

Spyderco seems the obvious answer...but Cold Steel also seems a good choice depending on the pattern you seek.

Like many here, I vastly prefer plain edge in my primary folder, however I myself have come to embrace serrations for their utility in many instances. My solution is to carry a fully serrated Dragonfly along with my primary folder. Or perhaps it's just a excuse to carry more knives ;)

Spyderco's serrated edges work, though they're a challenge to sharpen. My only one though is a Spyderco fruit knife which lives in the kitchen. That thin blade just whisks through fruit and veggies. Used to have a serrated Delica which I carried when jogging (back when I had two natural hips) but that disappeared somewhere a long time ago.

I'm a plain edge fan too, but I like at least the concept behind ESEE's serrations. They're only on one side of the bevel, so the idea is that they're easier to sharpen.

I'm considering a dragonfly for that same reason.
I haven't committed yet, though those two are perfect examples.

I'm a huge fan of salts and hap 40.

There are more serrated knives in Spyderco's catalog (past and present) than any other and that's where I think you should focus your search.

I own a lot of Spyderco knives w/serrated blades but I have no specific recommendations to make because you do not specify what your criteria for choosing other serrated knives are or should be.

Spyderco is where my focus is.
I have two se salts, which is primarily how I've discovered this new appreciation.
I think se salts are a focus point as this is where the serrations shine.

I was also looking at the police but I would prefer to stay with the salts.
I suppose I'm looking to suggestions that I don't know about yet.
Such as your obtainable favorites.

I'm thinking a dragonfly is in my future soon.

I'm a Manix fan. Post #10 is a custom. There used to be a Manix 2 SE version that you can still find on ebay, for instance. Cool knife.

Is there a "best steel" for serrations? I must admit that I don't have a single serrated blade, yet I am intrigued.

Again there are too many possible suggestions.

Most of the serrated knives in my collection are discontinued; not unobtainable but some are very hard to find these days.

So, again, I'd just refer you to Spyderco's current catalog which you can find here: 2022 Spyderco Product Guide

Unfortunately, many of the knives in Spyderco's catalog are just as difficut to find as are some of the older models in my collection because of Spyderco's expansive catalog but relatively limited production.

So, you should also scan The Bay for other options -- both discontinued and current production knives. All you have to do is enter "Spyderco serrated" in the search bar to reveal all of the serrated Spydercos currently available for sale there. I just did that and it revealed over 1.1k such listings.

As soon as you're able to narrow down your search and specify which type of serrated knives appeal to you most, we here will be better able to make meaningful recommendations of other knives that might also appeal to you.

-------------------------------------------

BTW, If you lean towards the Dragonfly, I can already tell you that I won't have much to suggest because I generally DO NOT buy/collect knives like that.

I did not buy any of the Spyderco serrated knives in my collection because I "love" serrated blades. I bought them either because they just "came that way" or in order to complete a particular collection of all of the blade variations of a specific model.

My preference is actually for straight edged blades.
