SE or Combo?

Hi y'all. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I was looking into picking up a Dragonfly in the next little while. I'm currently carrying a CRKT M16-13z w/ a combo edge, which has been my edc for about 3 or so years. The thing is, I'm a little torn on the edge. I like the cutting power of full serrated, but not exactly 100% sure. Anyone have any insight?

If your choice is between CE and PE I think your choice has just become a lot easier as I do not believe the dfly comes in a CE. Personally I don't care for a combo edge. Most of my knives are PE but I keep a few of the SE around just because Spyderco does such a great job on the serations. On the dfly I like the PE. If you can afford the extra $$$$ go for the etched version:)

Steve:
You're right. The dragonfly only comes in PE or SE flavors. I was thinking of the Scorpius, which I was looking at earlier today as well. I discounted it because I saw a few pictures with the thumb hole being partially covered when closed. On retrospect, I think I am going to go with the PE. The SE looks like it might be a pain to sharpen :)

Thanks guys!

The Dragonfly is a great knife. And serrations are easy to sharpen if you have a Spyderco Sharpmaker.

The Scorpius is a really awesome and slept on knife. One of the best designs Spyderco offers so long as it fits your hand right. Good choice.

Welcome!

Honestly I'd dish out some money and get an SE and a PE. If you can't do that get an SE since you can do a lot more with an SE than with just a PE. makes the knife preform well outside its size catagory.

i have a SE dragonfly that I carry along with a larger PE spyderco. I find that I use the PE more but its nice to have even a small SE around when I need it.

If you're deciding between SE and CE, go with the full serrated... I've found that 1/2 and 1/2 just doesnt cut it (pun intended).
You'll be much happier with the cutting power of a SE blade

Full SE on that smaller blade will make it cut lke a much larger blade. Think about it, SE has a lot more sharpened surface area to do the cutting. If you keep the SE sharp via the sharpmaker they will serve you well.
