Seal pup elite?

I'm looking for a good knife to carry for everyday use with some consideration to self defense. Would this knife be a good choice or is it too large, I live in Illinois if that makes a difference in what you can carry.

I sometimes carry a seal pup in the waistband in the kydex sheath it came with only I took the belt attachment off and use 550 cord to secure to my belt. It is a bit large considering you only got 4 inches of cutting surface. I have switched to carrying a SOG Spec Elite 1 for self defense which has the same amount of cutting as the pup. The pup(elite) is perfect for carry in the outdoors but concealing it takes some engineuity and getting used to.

I agree with dberry, you would have a real interesting time concealing a seal pup elite. I love mine for hiking and camping but I can wear it on my pack for that.
