Seal Pup Elite

I was surprised by how tight fitting the nylon sheath was. It should where in very well. If the kydex sheath version is the same sheath as they have used in years past, then it SUCKS. Go Nylon.

BTW - The Seal Pup "Elite" is $75 - $80 online, and usually $90 - $100 if you buy at a brick and mortar. Walmarts stock the standard version for $49 retail: same knife, just without the spine jimping. MUCH better deal.

If the handle length, choil length and steel are all the same...what is the difference between the two now other than name? I'll have to check the website on this. Interesting stuff.

The Seal Pup Elite has black tini or satin coating , plain and half-serrated versions. The Seal pup is half-serrated only. It also has a powdercoat coating. Both are extremely tough , durable and long-lasting. Best coatings I've found on any knife - bar none.

The Seal Pup does not have spine rasping/jimping , whereas the Elite does. I think that pretty much covers it. I prefer the rasp spine as it gives good thumb grip wherever you put your thumb on the spine.

I think it's one of the better lightweight multi-use knives out there. I bought 2 black tini Elites , one satin , and 2 seal pups that I got a good deal on. Stashed them in different bags. They are not my primary blades , but are my secondary back-up. If it was all I had on me , I wouldn't be too worried. It's a pretty tough knife. I got to state this again , but the one kydex sheath I had was terrible. Zero retention , poor fit , and flimsy back plate. The nylon one has great retention and very good construction. Same goes for my Force and it's sheath. Badass knife that one is.

Thanks Hiwa for the reply. Even though I own one, I forgot about the rasps on the Elite's spine. The only thing I personally prefer about the regular pup is the bead blasted looking coating (not sure what it is actually). I don't think you could go wrong with either unless you just prefer a plain edge, which I do. As a bonus for the nylon sheath, you can just fit a Leatherman Wave in there. I know there is the school of thought for a fixed, folder and multitool for "survival", but I believe the Seal Pup Elite would be a good carver for delicate work. I'd feel pretty good with the Pup seath loaded with a Wave and a chopper of some sorts.
