Hello all, I'm new to SOG and relitivly new to fixed blade as up till now I've always been pretty happy with my folders.

Well I decided to be adventureous and after looking around for a while i decided on the SEAL pup for its size and strength. My problem is that everyone in a while when putting the blade back in its sheath it gets caught up before it can get fully in and lock. Normaly I'd just pass this off as a anomaly but I'm somewhat worried that it might me harming the blade each time this happens. So far there are no visible marks or indcations that it does hurt the blade but I'm still paraniod.

Thanks for any help.

P.S. any tips for wearing the sheath in the small of the back configuration?

you can buy the nylon sheath for it , it also allows you to "piggyback" a folder or multitool

Oh, I'm glad it worked out for you SPXTrader!
ceej.tank, does the SEAL pup's kydex sheath have a "lip" to sort of lock the blade in? If it does, you could try heating up the "lip" part with a hairdryer (not toooo hot) and bending it slightly (but not too much to disintegrate the thing)? It work for me, and some of the others on this forum (so do it at your own risk...:D )!

Well not sure it's the lip but I may try that. Will that disable the shealths ability to hold the blade in without the clip? Alot of the time I have the belt clip part configuerd on the side to keep it out of the way of the handle and I rely on that part of the shealth to hold the knife in.

My Kydex sheath for my Pup was a little iffy, too. I guess the quality of each unit varies. Anyway, I had a leather sheath custom-made, with the Pup piggyback on a Seal 2000. I like it a lot.

AMERICANCCW,

I seem to recall someone talking about such a sheath a while back, but I can't find any reference posting to it ......

Might you have a picture you can post ?? I'm with sirgalant, Cool Rig !!

Cheers,

Carl

I usually slide the blade in and than use my thumb to push open the lip of the sheath a bit...about the finish For a fee I believe sog will refininsh it if it becomes damaged...however if it is an outside working blade it's just a mtter of time before the finish is damaged
