I remember some time ago that it was mentioned that owners of Seal Pups could get the new sheath from SOG. That would be great, as the (old) sheath is the only thing I don't like about the Seal Pup. How much would the sheath cost if i could order one?
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
Best bet is to call the toll free number and talk to one of the fine folks there... ;)

The new SEAL Pup and SEAL Knife 2000 sheaths are available for people that already own one. The SEAL Pup sheath is $19.95. If you want one contact SOG's consumer services department and they will be able to take your order and get a new sheath out to you.

retail@sogknives.com or 888 SOG-BEST x240

Thanks

I have a SOG pup and had both sheaths, the one that has the clip and the new on that has the line cutter notch. I HATE THEM BOTH! The 1st is obvious, there isnt enough handle to let you get a good grip. the new one holds the knife so tight that it takes 2 hands to draw it. The belt attachment is unique and could be a good Idea but the plastic is weak and bends very easily. Now this may be ok for those who dont carry or actually use their knives but as a Soldier/Medic in the Army this sheath just sucks. I love the knife but am currently looking for a better sheath. IMHO :grumpy:

IMO the SOG sheaths are some of the best I've ever had. Yeah I've had my share of tight sheaths, but that was easily solved by following the instructions on the SOG web site. Follow this link:SOG FAQ's to find out how to loosen a tight sheath.

And as far as your other complaint, I think that's more a mater of personal preference. Personally, I like long beltloops like SOG makes. The Kydex sheaths for my Government and Desert Dagger are Perfect!

Hope you can get your problems solved,

Heber

TY Wildman it is not the tightness that really bothers me except when I wear the knife on my belt. if I wear it upside down then the tightness is fine. the "width" of the belt loop is fine too and the mechanism is unique like i said and actually a decent idea, but it is very very weak. I took mine to NTC in the desert of California and did a lot of training, the knife performed flawlessly but the sheath left alot to be desired. and for me the notch is not needed or wanted. the sheath for the CRKT 9705 that I found for a replacement works quite well so far but the test of it remains to be seen.

JWolf1, you got me there. glad another sheath is working out for you. Sorry the Factory sheaths are not. Have you considered a custom sheath? I'm sure one of the sheath makers on this Forum could make something that would be Perfect for you. Good luck!

I love the new sheaths, I think they are exactly what we needed for our knives, they fit perfect and are so easy to operate. The screw tension adjustment is wonderful, this allows you to adjust your knife to the exact tension for your use, any way you want to carry it. I think they are well though out and very well made.
