Anyone ever heard of this guy?

http://www.youtube.com/user/seanmulhall

I did a search and couldn't find anything on Bladeforums.

His videos comparing his knife to the Tops / Tom Brown Tracker seemed pretty cool.

I am going to check out his other videos but I was curious if anyone here had heard of him or his knife design?

I know him informally (sort of an Youtube acquaintance) He's a pretty knowledgable guy. a bit of flare for drama with the get up, and the "silver fox title" but there is some decent stuff in his vids..
as for his knife it doesn;t float my boat.. but I'm no big fan of the tom brown tracker knife either....

I've watched his vids, good stuff. His knife looks sort of like a golok not really like the TB Tracker.

His knife looks like a big nessmuk. I don't like that design.

I don't like the tracker either.

I think the problem with these 2 knives is that they want to replace 2-3 knives.

I'm gonna give myself a cool sur-title like that, too. Something respectable... "The Hairless Beaver".... Yeah, Will "The Hairless Beaver " Stewart.

I've seen a few of his videos. I like watching his description of gear and set ups. As far as his nickname, lots of hikers come up with ones too. Fun. I'd like to check the knife out before deciding like or dislike. I used to have a Tracker, one of the worst knives I've ever owned.

damn, i do not like his knife at all... it looks way to goofy for me. also (IMO) doesn't his knife look like an inverted tracker?

I had to chortle at the name. Silver fox is generally a term someone uses about others to describe them as suave and smooth. Not generally something I'd name myself.

He tosses out some pretty fair info
.I subscribed to his BoobToob channel a while back.
He's pretty good........... atho I think he sometimes imitates what the other, "original", guys are doing, or have done.

You see quite a bit of that lately with The Bushcraft Fever.:jerkit:
I'm nearly expecting Burger King to switch it's plastic blades to a Scandi grind.

Most everyone can certainly appreciate Ray Mears and I think Dave Canterbury is another good one.. Discovery Channel seems to have agreed.
Ron Hood is quite the character and seems very knowledgeable.
IMO. Those guys are pretty real.

its very easy to point fingers and laugh..but Sean is a nice guy..and he has some good stuff..
There's allotta pedestal sitting in this place.."this is too trendy and bushcraft is for snobs" or whatever.
its easy to take a walk in the back 40 and take pictures of yourself sparking a ferro and sticking your knife into a log, or making yet another lighting fatwood with a ferro thread and be a positively contributing member to a forum, its another to come up with material of perceived value and present it...
Alotta folks on here bash the Tube.. I learned allot there granted some of it was how not to do things..
think we all need to get over ourselves a bit (me too) and get back to learning and getting out doors instead of trying to devalue the offerings of others just my 2 cents fwiw...as I mentioned before I think nick name and some other aspects are hammed up a bit... But if it make him happy, than Good for him.

Concur.

I don't know Sean but his comparison of his knife to the Tom Brown Tracker by Tops I thought was done well and an honest comparison as he frequently mentioned what each knife was good at with little to no ego involvement.

I am going to continue to check him out on Youtube.

Good stuff bro.

If you give yourself a nickname, you're a douche. End of story.

In defense of the individual in question, his friends may have been calling him that for years. I wouldn't be so quick to judge someone based on a snap assumption.

The information I've seen on his YouTube channel so far has been useful - if not for me then certainly for someone else. He definitely has more experience than I do, and has certainly made more of his bushcrafting than many of us here have.

I like most of his vids, as they are pretty well done. His knife I am not much a fan of, but I'm not of the Tracker either.

There is a great satisfaction in designing a knife that suits you. Maybe it's not for everyone but it works for him so it's cool.
