Sean "The Silver Fox" Mulhall?

I like the knife. Wish I had one to play with....give it some dirt time and kitchen time too! Where do you get one? Edit: found it.

In defense of the individual in question, his friends may have been calling him that for years. I wouldn't be so quick to judge someone based on a snap assumption.

The information I've seen on his YouTube channel so far has been useful - if not for me then certainly for someone else. He definitely has more experience than I do, and has certainly made more of his bushcrafting than many of us here have.

You're right. Hopefully that is the case. I was a little harsh with my post and I thought about editing it, but it has been quoted so I left it.

I have no knowledge of this guy and I've never watched any of his videos. I just think people who change their name to something that sounds cooler or give themselves a fancy nickname have typically built themselves up a bit in their own imagination. Examples include "Myke Hawke," "Mick Strider," etc. I could change my name to Captain Badass but that doesn't mean I know anything. Just let your work speak for itself.

Could be someone else gave him the nickname though. I wouldn't judge a guy just on his moniker. For instance tknife isn't my real name ;)

I watched his vid on skinning an animal. I was really impressed by his reverence for the mink he was skinning.

I've also seen a vid where he shows how to leave a campsite clean & picks up after other folks. He's really pissed in the vid b/c somebody else has left a bunch of trash, bottles, etc. & he packs it out.

He also has some good vids on making things... carving spoons, making hidden tang knives, how to do some basic leatherwork.

He seems like a good steward to me. I don't care for his knife design, but I think he does a good job of relating his skills & values for the outdoors.

As for the nickname, he is sort of a smallish guy with gray hair, so... not all that crazy that somebody could've started calling him that. Then again, even if he made it up & wants to call himself "silver fox," I call myself "chopchop" so I'm not casting stones. :D

I make my living in teaching/public speaking. The hardest thing to do is present a good 10 minute speech or lesson. That is the standard time limit for YT. In a ten minute time slot you can't ramble, every word has to be focused on that one point you are trying to get across. If someone is getting across good information in a sub 10 minute format they are doing a good job. Any fool can set up a camera, shoot crappy video and ramble incoherently.

The video aspect can either help convey that information or bore the audience to death. Bottom line it takes effort, and if a guy is doing that for us for free and we are coming away with new information he should be supported. Mac
