Search & Rescue Knife Review

You have just about made what Kephart thought was the perfect companion knife;

I thought about that, but these fire steels are so cheap once I even see any loose issues I throw a new one in. They are standard 3/16 x 2.5"
:)

If you are using a flat striker and rake along the same part of the firesteel every time, it will be a loooong time before it gets loose (think of a circle cut in half when viewed from the end). Not sure about how that v-shaped striker would wear one down, but regardless, this is a very impressive knife! Solid home run, and O1 is one of my favorite steels for outdoors work.

Hit the woods yesterday from a hike with the Wife. Took a few shots. Knife worked well as I expected. The fire steel V notch works good. I found on the 3/16 sized ones it fits nicely along the diameter.

Smoke in the background from the fire I made to cook some bannock.
