Hi,
I would like to hear your suggestions for a one hand opening, production folder with a clip
blade preferably under 4", blade material is NOT so important (440C/AUS8 and better)
price preferably under 110$ (can be slightly higher)

required:
NOT hole (spyderco-like) opening,
must be screwed (no pins)
no plastic (zytel etc.) handle, if possible not thin metal liners
not liner-lock (frame lock is acceptable; preferably NOT back/mid/front lock)

p.s. do not suggest camillus cuda edc, because I already have one

well, the liners on 710 are quite thin (in other words: thinner than I would like)
anyway, thanks for suggestions

any more? :)

Well, considering your lock preferences, there is'nt a huge selection to choose from.

Maybe...

Kershaw Storm
Kershaw Vapor
Kershaw Leek
CRKT BladeLock

Good luck,
Allen.

This sure looks like a job for a 710 imho.:D

I cant imagine how a bit thicker liner would benefit this knife at all, it is strong an stout as is, doesn't flex in hand under load, atleast mine never has.

Lotta fans of the BM 710 here, the first four replies where for it, it is a great folder, take a closer look friend.

I prefer it in the way its made, any thicker and it is not the same knife, more like a 110 or a Snody, and that extra thickness would make it a bit harder to carry in front pockets imho.

I carry a min of 2 EDC on me at any time, A 710 and the little brother a 705.

If ya buy one, a 710, and don't like it, i will buy it from you for your cost, hows that grab ya:D

camillus dominator is nice knife, but it is assisted opener and afaik it cannot be disassembled (and assembled again then :))

crkt bladelock is quite interesting, but pins again :s

kershaw, well their designs just don't fit me...
leek maybe, but the damned PINS, they are everywhere

it seems that only remaining candidate is 710... (720, 721, 707 - they are just the same)

interesting if you think of number of brands and models out there :)

thanks for your help,
anyway if you have any other candidates, don't be afraid of posting them here

What pins are you specificly talking about?

The BladeLock and the Leek are screw constructed.

Allen.

no, those are screws. see here: http://www.tadgear.com/edged%20tools/leek_black.htm
you're just looking at the bottom of the screws, flip the knife over and you'll see the heads on the other side.

one kershaw i like is the boa, scales are aluminum: (http://www.bladehq.com/item--Kershaw-Boa-Spring-Assist--139)

but if you don't want a liner lock, i'd definately recommend one of the benchmade axis locks, as already mentioned.

putting topic back to top :)

Well, stick with cheaper benchmades (let's say under 85$) - which of them have steel liners all the way through the handle?

What I mean:

The first left is griptilian, I don't know which the other ones are

p.s. the photo is not mine, I don't remember where I get it so I'm sorry if author of the image gets upset for stealing his work :)

AFAIK, none of them at that price.

and double check the blade steels on the Kershaws, I think I've seen the Leek listed as using 420.

That first one on the left is not a Griptilian. That's an aluminum handled 720. The one in the middle is a 732 Ares and the one on the right is a 710.

Get a 732 Ares. That fits your bill just right. ;)

copper crayon - it really should be a 551 griptilian
look here (550 griptilian):

it seems there are no more candidates coming...

any more with these specs?
price under 80$ (710 wins in higher price)
screw constructed
not pure plastic handle (if plastic than it has to have steel (or other metal) liners)
not liner-lock

please give my more options to choose from (or confirm that there is no other choice than BM710 :))
