Recommendation? Searching for a new edc.

Nothing wrong with the Ruike. Great knife for the price.

I was going to mention maybe the new Buck 112 Slim Pro. S30V steel and G10 scales. Plus one of the best warranties in the business.

IMO for a <$100 knife there are few to no better options than Kizer or Civivi. Since you mentioned being interested in non plastic-like scales the Brisa Enzo Birk 75 comes in several different configurations and is a solid knife. I have one with green micarta and D2 with a Scandi grind that I’d be willing to part with.
I'm pretty set on the ruike but out of curiosity if you have a pic handy and a price I'd check it out.

You might take a look at the Civivi Pintail Flipper in S35VN Also, Lionsteel makes some pretty nice looking traditional style folders in M390 right around your price limit. Spyderco has a few knives in K390 that are ugly and a little over your price point but they do knife stuff very well. I have examples of all the above.

I have but I didn't find any I liked really. I don't want a plastic feel if possible. I want something metal or possibly wood. I miss my old bone handle case but it's just not modern enough anymore.
I’ll second Knives&Lint Knives&Lint - new custom scales will make it unique and will be definitely cheaper than new knife, better than Griptilian.
‘Google/search “ deathgripscales “ in Instagram and get Ryan’s contact info. Probably the best guy for Griptilian scales.
‘I got recently Grip with S30V and IMO it’s just fine steel for folders, especially for what you’re saying that you’re doing w your knife.

I can t believe that someone asks for recommendations for a durable, quality, hard work knife for less than 100 dollars and no one has mentioned.Cold Steel.

I just looked at one vendor that I ve used several times, and found a CS Code 4 for sale for $99. An American Lawman for $94 dollars! And for $119 you can get the 4 inch Recon1, a tremendous outdoor work knife. All with s35vn steel, and Cold Steel is known for good heat treatments for their blades. My Cold Steel working knives have lasted for years of moderately heavy outdoor use. High quality for the money. Very strong, durable knives.

I do really like that recon 1. I'd probably get it if it was axis, liner, frame or button lock. I just don't always have the ability to use 2 hands to shut my knife if I'm holding something up or climbing.

I don't know if you've ever had a Cold Steel but their backlocks arent that hard to close one handed once you get used to them. And depending on the model they're fairly smooth.

But on another note, I really do think you should get some replacement scales for your Grip. As others mentioned Ryan at Deathgripscales on Instagram makes incredible, high quality scales out of literally anything. He's doing the 940 and Bugout in titanium scales now but I don't think he's doing the Grip yet. He does do wood, g10, carbon fiber, and micarta though. They can get pretty pricey if you go all out but if you were to get just a simple set of wood scales made it should be well within your budget.

There's a gun show this weekend at the fairgrounds in Tulsa. The local distributor for Ruike knives is in Broken Arrow. They usually have a booth at this show. They're a Fenix flashlight distributor, Ruike is a sideline for them.
And, tho I have several better quality folding knives, the P-108 is the one that gets the most use, and carry time, by far.

There are literally dozens of quality knives in the under-$100 range that would do the job you ask. While I prefer to buy American-made products in most cases, I'm also the first to admit that a good knife is a good knife,
regardless of where it is made. Inexpensive doesn't have to mean cheap.

I would never have a folder that couldn t be opened and closed one handed.

You can of course close a back lock on your leg. But you also may not need the sort of lock that has to be that bullet proof anyway.

I have used a cheap liner lock/razor blade knife for years and never had an issue.

By the way they do make some la de da versions of those utility knives. Which might satisfy your need for bling

So I did a quick google search and I really know nothing about this knife, because I just go cheap and ugly.

But as an idea.

Since you ve liked your mini Grip, I might mention the only 3 inch blade I carry for work. The Cold Steel 3 inch Hold Out is the knife I carry daily in the bottom if my pocket, along with a larger knife iwb that is one of 6 or 7 in my current rotation.

I find I am now using the Holdout 90% of the time! I ve been using it this way for the last year. At this rate, I might be converted to 3” work blades in another year or so. S35vn steel. Very slicey. Light and strong. Very strong. In your budget.

Nothing wrong with S30V. If you want a tougher steel consider some of the tool steels like M4 and 3V.
