Searching for a sturdy pack

Here here. Patrick Smith sold mountainsmith to the corporations catering to the REI crowd. He got tired of sacrificing design efficiency for the sake of new marketing fads in gear. He then started Kifaru, and you can only get it from their website. Mountainsmith has lots of Patricks good work in that some are light and have suspension better than most.

I wondered why the Kifaru packs had that Delta-suspension system!!! I thought I'd heard MS was sold, but didn't know that the owner went and started a new line... I really loved the old stuff from MountainSmith - I always thought those packs were the most stable of any I ever owned, to include two different Dana's, two Ospreys, a MacHale's and others I can't remember... Just wish there had been more attachment points, like the new MOLLE/PALS systems. I always took them to the local equipment repair folks and had them add ladder-style tape, both vertically and horizontally on most of my stuff... And I still have all of 'em!! :D
