Searching for my grail...

Mods, you can move this to the Exchange if you think it's more appropriate but I didn't want to include a price, and at this point I think it's a discussion topic.. So, I wasn't sure where to go with it.

I'm aware of the fact that finding a BOSC-ID isn't really the easiest task, and finding someone who is willing to part with one outside of eBay is even worse.

With that said, I'm curious if there are any of you who may be willing to think about possibly selling one. I realize there are a few other options like the FMV's and a couple more rare, but they just don't have the same appeal.

I wouldn't flip it, and I'd offer whoever the owner is buyback rights if I ever sold.

Anyone who wants, please feel free to weigh in. I know there are some out there, but getting people to let them go is another story. :)

Also, I can't say price isn't an option because who knows what I'm going to end up spending Wednesday, and I'm already in trouble with the wife for buying a bunch of camera gear. lol

My dream is one with canvas Micarta. I've long regretted not buying the doublecut black canvas one that I saw on the table at Blade West when those were released. The craftsmanship of those is off the charts.
 
I had to Google that knife. Wowza. Amazing. I bet that's a high dollar piece. My grail hunt has turned to finding a Swatmandu. Short of buying G-Rex version off flea bay I'm at a loss. Collectors always want what cant have (easily).

If you find one on eBay or anywhere else, you buy it. Does not matter the price. If you think the asking price is unreasonable, you're not ready to own a BOSC ID. :D

Even when they were new, they were hard to get. I think Eric Isaacson bought them all. If you weren't at Blade, you were lucky to get one for under $800. And that was a long time ago. And I wasn't at Blade. I wouldn't let mine go for less than $2500, and probably not even for that. But good luck in your search.
 
OP: This qualifies as a WTB thread, for future reference.
Since it also has discussion on its rarity, & that maple burl BOSC ID...hawt...I'll not move it, so long as it stays more on the discussion side.

Yeah it took me four years to find mine and it was pure happenstance. But I had seen two for sale prior. One was $2100 (blk/tan g10) and the other was $2500 (blk mic). I thought those were crazy prices for a small knife but man I wanted it. When mine came around I saw a picture of it before I saw the price. I had it in my mind I was buying it regardless and when the price came in at $3800 I was like, "WHAT!?!? I'll take it!!!" Sold off 4 of my nuked V8s (which were my babies) and another knife to fund it. But in a grail search nothing is off limits. :)

Good luck on your search! And know that if you see one, you gotta be fast in the draw because their are people like me waiting for Jaxx to lose his mind and sell his beautiful red set or JTT to want to know the feeling of instant regret and offer his for sale. :)
 
Sounds like a re-release of those at $500 a pop would likely get Jerry hung.:D

And kudos to Jaxx for exercising some judicious restraint. Was wondering how this thread made it past the first hour, and appreciated seeing his thoughts. Not an easy call, and a good example of how crucial good mods are to the life of a forum like this one. Well done.:thumbsup:

I can tell you there are a lot out there and and their owners are accessorizing :) I have made quite a few sheaths for them and have more on the books yet to be done.

Hard to post after UNRL Ghandi shows his off but I'm partial to orange so it worked out well when I landed this one.

Best advice for getting one is be ready to pay and act fast if you see one come up. Their popularity went up quite a bit after The Walking Dead had one.

I saw a mammoth tooth one on eBay for $4500, honestly, I almost bought it, but it was from LK. I just can't do it. If it'd been KH I'd have called him and at least done it for eBay price minus fees. It wouldn't have saved much, but I actually like that guy. Talked to him on the phone a few times looking for things.
 
Can you remember how long the company store had the Hawkeye daggers for sale?

Yup, that would qualify as a rare "Regret" for me personally. :(

This is not an offer to sell, but $3800? I expect if anyone had offered me that before I'd read this thread, I'd have seriously considered the offer. And by "seriously considered," I mean sold it in a heartbeat.

Haha, I wouldn't have paid that much for standard handles. Some dudes like blondes and others brunettes, I'm a spalted maple guy so price didn't matter for this one since it is likely the only BOSC ID with those handles and that is exactly what I would have purchased from the shop if I had been given the opportunity! :D

You don't want to sell your's back to me do you? I regret ever selling any of those. LOL
 
I once had quite a few, sold most of them. I now regret that but at the time it needed to be done. I believe I only have 2 left but I may have another also. 2 canvas and the 1 custom. The orange are now gone
