Searching for my grail...

I'm starting a rumor that there are going to be a few custom shop BOSC-IDs in the Christmas in July Grab Bags. But don't tell anyone, it's supposed to be a secret. But if you get one, you heard it from me first. Still just a rumor, though.
Pretty glad I read this before I read your other post...

OP: This qualifies as a WTB thread, for future reference.
Since it also has discussion on its rarity, & that maple burl BOSC ID...hawt...I'll not move it, so long as it stays more on the discussion side.
I will also, as punishment lol, tease you with this pair below...
It is good to be the mod...lmao ;):D
Happy Hunting :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Understand on the WTB portion. I've seen your teaser pic many times before trolling. Thanks for the kick in the sack. LOL :)

I can tell you there are a lot out there and and their owners are accessorizing :) I have made quite a few sheaths for them and have more on the books yet to be done.

Hard to post after UNRL Ghandi shows his off but I'm partial to orange so it worked out well when I landed this one.

Best advice for getting one is be ready to pay and act fast if you see one come up. Their popularity went up quite a bit after The Walking Dead had one.

Yeah, I'd jump all over the right sale. But the only ones I have seen come up in like 2 years of looking are the mammoth tooth one I mentioned in the first post, and one that, for example, is like yours. It's a beautiful knife, but I'm not partial to orange. So it'd be hard to think about parting with a new camera lens, or a new gun, or like just now 2 of the new ganza bags for fun over something that I'd look at and always want something else...

I don't want to buy a version of my favorite knife (aesthetically) and hate the appearance of the handle. LOL.

I had to Google that knife. Wowza. Amazing. I bet that's a high dollar piece. My grail hunt has turned to finding a Swatmandu. Short of buying G-Rex version off flea bay I'm at a loss. Collectors always want what cant have (easily).
Have you checked the exchange? Or just not seen one that you like? For a little while there I saw one of those posted about every two weeks it seemed.

Edit: I know a few people that bought them were willing to sell as I got some PM's from them after they had acquired them. It might be worth posting a WTB because at least one of the people that replied to me is a reputable person who keeps stuff in the exchange from what I have seen... (Unless no one buys it.)

@Apocryphiliac, @WatermanChris, @UNRL Ghandi, @JACKMANDU, @luethge, @ScoMa, @Leonardo63

Now I've turned this into a WTB thread (sorta), but one of you guys should possible be able to point out a Swatmandu for sale right? I was seeing them almost weekly earlier this year, I'd be real money one of you guys knows where one has landed and is up for sale...

Now, don't move my thread damnit. I'm still talking about daggers, not buying/selling knives. :)

Speaking of... The BOSC-ID is obviously my choice based on this post... But having taken a look (possibly buying an FMV14 now), I think I would put the Hawkeye Short up there with something that would satisfy my need for a BOSC-ID.

Seriously?
"If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to want a glass of milk."
I gave you leeway on the BOSC-ID...
As it stands, I could infract you right now for posting this WTB thread here, especially considering you KNOW you're over the line, and have admitted it.
Don't be publically tagging folks to what is essentially a WTB request in a discussion forum & PLEASE do not push it...TY

I was trying to be helpful to another forum member who I do not know about a totally different subject in which he stated he has already posted a WTB forum and had the appropriate level membership.

Leeway on the BOSC-ID is interesting if you posted a teaser pic in what seemed like a friendly post until "it's good to be the mod." If there was leeway to be given, then it should have just been moved. I don't need favors and I don't "want a glass of milk". Since the very first post of this thread, it has been a discussion on rarity, what people have spent (or their ceiling price if they were willing to buy), comparison to other knives, some old friends reconnecting, and a few jokes. If you want to move the thread move it. If you want to move my post, move it (if that's possible, if not delete it if you'd like since I can't).

I would asked if you would like to continue this in private, but your message has had me searching bladeforums and google for the better part of an hour attempting to find out what and infraction is, what it does, why I was threatened with one. The only thing I could find was the site rules which I read before joining and the #1 rule is do not harass the mods, take it up with the site owner (which I will send this post to so I can cover my rear so to speak) as the other thing I found in the same search on this site in the tech support forum was from Staff Member/Super Mod in 2012 that said "I agree that moderators must be held to a higher standard when acting as representatives of the site and in fairly administering the rules of the site. When they are acting as regular members of the site, they are free to let their hair down, so to speak. That said, there cannot be any conflict of interest, real or perceived, imho." And that, is the only reason I mentioned your first post, because I feel that there is a conflict of interest between the two.

I would like to add that no harm was meant to be done in any form in any post I have made on this forum ever. I happen to only be on this forum for Busse product because I enjoy their gear so much. I do not believe that I would want my customers spoken to publicly the way you just called me out. Please, in the future, if you are going to be rude PM me. I don't care what you say to me in private at all, and I will never complain about it once. The first time I read this, I almost set an alarm to called an cancel my order until I realized that you are more than likely not under their employ.

You got yer weenie slapped on a knife enthusiasts' forum. Quit being so dramatic.

Same thing's happened to most of us here at one time or another.

You seem to be a good dude who contributes here and Jaxx is, for sure, the most moderate moderator on BF, imho. You'll find this out for yourself if you venture far outside of Busse sub, till then, you'll have to trust me on this one. ;)

There's another cool guy here on BF that says "If you're doing it right, knife collecting is supposed to be fun."

So relax dude, and have more fun. :)

I've been around but mostly been buying guns and can't afford 2 expensive hobbies LOL

:D:D
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/i-finally-belong.1693589/#post-19361664

That when when I posted about being so happy that I finally just made the leap and bought a Busse. 2 months... 8 more. I had been trolling them for 10 years, if I had just joined the group of owners then, I'd have gotten on the mailing list sooner.

So, I guess it was a good thing and a bad thing I didn't buy one earlier. I'd have spent my life savings 10 times over on these knives by now and missed out on my amazing guns. But I still love the knives.

You seem like a really cool guy in all your posts I read too. But, I am leaving this as the one and only response. To me, it's already forgotten about.

P purest
No, I am not employed by Busse. I volunteer my time & in that, I serve 2 masters- Jerry Busse, & BladeForums.com
I try to keep it light so long as folks listen. Been a loooong time since having to even throw a warning at anyone, & I am appreciative of the fine folks here. It wasn't always so smooth to moderate this forum.
So-
My 1st post was serving Busse, my next, Bladeforums... There are rules set forth by the site owner, we are expected to follow them..
You acknowledged that you understood for next time that this qualified as a wtb thread, I return to check the thread, there you are in a new post stating that you're making a wtb post...sort of.
Had I thrown you a yellow or red card, your explanation would have been by PM.
I chose not to.
Thank you for the wall of text...

I once had quite a few, sold most of them. I now regret that but at the time it needed to be done. I believe I only have 2 left but I may have another also. 2 canvas and the 1 custom. The orange are now gone

You know, after looking at these pictures for the past couple days... I've come to a couple different conclusions:

1. The FMV14 I just bought, I really have no idea how I'm going to make a boot knife out of it. Unless I get some of those go-go dance boots for like a 400'lb woman.
2. The Hawkeye Short has, I think taken over my top spot.

I mean, if I was theoretically able to stumble into a BOSC-ID, would I say no because I've not become addicted to something else? Absolutely not. But that Hawkeye is just so amazingly though out, wonderfully crafted, and details that are so gentle/subtle on the eyes, I am just blown away.

It hasn't been mentioned anywhere that I've seen in a long time, but the Hot Diggity, I really enjoy that one too. That was a Swamp creation right? I can't remember and I wasn't even aware about the Swamp until something like 2 years ago (fail). I could see that being a good one to have for functionality, but for me it's missing the aesthetics.

One of these day's I'll end up with a Kris too. But I can't see myself carrying it. I think it may be illegal to carry here. I mean we can carry bazooka's here and it's fine. But maybe someone else from Arizona might know off the top of my head if I'm right about there being an obscure old AZ law about carrying curving double edged blades. I know that law exists, I just can't remember where, maybe another state.
