searching for thin viscosity epoxy

I have a build on a blind tang and I really need to pour the handle hole completely full of epoxy, so I'm wondering if you folks are familiar with and can recommend a really thin viscosity epoxy, preferably one that is black. I'm not sure if I'm really aware of any that are thin enough to pour like I'm wanting, so any advice/recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks--Don

Standard West Systems is pretty thin. Not talking about their G-Flex. I think it's the 105 resin and 206 hardener.

If you get one of the small coffee stir sicks that look like a little straw and put it into your handle the pour your epoxy it will let the air in the bottom escape. I use west systems epoxy.

I use standard Acraglass, not the gel. It's pretty thin when first mixed so it's extremely easy to pour. The Brownell's Acraglass kits come with brown and black dye that can be added to the epoxy.

I've used a wire to "pack" the epoxy in and release the bubbles, followed by tapping the pommel. Realistically, I think it would be difficult to end up with a significant air pocket once the tang is inserted.

Another method you might try is using the aforementioned coffee straw, tape a plastic bag to "pipe" the epoxy right to the bottom of the hole, like using a pastry bag. Sort of a long applicator syringe.

Some people thin epoxy with solvents, but I'd rather have a bubble than modified epoxy.

I have used jbweld in that application. I mix it in a little plastic cup and then warm it with a heat gun. once warm it will pour into the tang hole with ease.

I second the coffee stir trick. Stick it down the hole and pour in the epoxy. It will flow down easily without backing up and running over.

Thin resin can be any good slow cure type. Mix it by the recommended proportion, dye with epoxy dye ( I like the powders), and warm to about 100F. That will speed up the set time, but if you are using a 6 hour to a 24 hour resin, you will have lots of time to get everything clamped up right. When I need a really thin resin, I use System Three clear coat.

Thanks for the recommends folks, I think I need to order some West Systems just because, and Accraglass because I've liked it when bedding rifle action with it.

Will get a few coffee stir straw also.

Thanks!
