Searh Warrant Knife

OK, i don't know a ton about knives and Designs. It appears that the knife you drew/ cut out, has a sort of tanto point on it. Isn't that one of the strongest tip designs? Also looking at that Large camper with the Scandi grind you made me, that appears to be a pretty solid tip as well. That one is just a little large, and dare I say it, too pretty to be driving into things for work. That's a play camping knife.

I was thinking a "steeper" grind for the front edge, or tip, for extra strength and penetrating wood or door frames, and a thinner grind for the bottom, or cutting edge.

You're dead on with my thoughts of the knife. Prying open a few places that we need to take a peak in, and cutting anything else I need to, carpet, fabric "ERT cuffs" ... and of course doghnuts! John my thought on size is what you suggested, 4 1/2 blade 9 overall. it would be big enough to use, but still wearable for a while.
I love the hawk, throwing/camping etc, i always have something in that design/length, but it just wouldn't be practical in my work enviorment.
Thanks John. Will think this through a little, and catch up with you about it. thanks again John

I believe your right about the tanto design having one of the toughest tips. I'm sure that tip would be strong, especially in 3/16" with Johns grind.

My thought was with a straighter tip, or less of an angle, that there would be more surface area for prying without having to drive the tip in as much. That was my initial thought, but it may not actually make a difference during use.

Hey John, hope things are well. i want to talk to you about a price for one of these as you drew up. Overtime has been occurring a little and Christmas is past.

Hey John, is there anything that this design would be better at thansay, the urban hawk, or the knatchet?

Cool! Hawks are one of the most versatile tools around! People disregard them because of their weight, but a good hawk is worth it's weight in gold... And from what I've seen, John makes some very good hawks

Actually, we are going with an Urban Hawk.

hah! and here I was thinkng the Knatchet would be perfect.
another thought i had was something similar to the CRKT/Graham stubby Razel only scaled up and with a flat saber grind.

Got ready to order the above design, and then made the mistake of surfing the photos again..... well, the Urban hawk is exactly what will exceed my intention for the project. Especially since the hanlde has basically a crow bar style end, so I can handle the initial prying I was looking for, and I get the utility of the "hawk" that could also prove useful in exigent circumstances. And it fits in my large maxpedition bag I keep in the car. Looking forward to getting it and then providing some feed back on what it went through/pried open/ or cut open. Thanks again John for a great design Dan
