Are you, or do you know anyone making knives in the Seattle area? Or even Washington State? I dream of becoming a knife maker, and would love to know what is going on locally. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you -john

Rod Chappell (sp?) is around here somewhere - he's been making knives for decades now, very cool flowing lines. You could go to the monthly(?) nwkc show in Tacoma and see which locals are there, it's a small gathering w/o any big names except sometimes (?) Todd Begg. http://www.nwkc.org

Here is a partial list:
- Todd Begg
- Peter Bromley
- Lyle Brunckhorst
- Bruce Bump
- Dan Bynum
- John Conway
- Bill Cottrell
- Kelly Cupples
- John Davis
- Matt Diskin
- Dan Erickson
- Tom Ferry
- Sam Fogler
- Steve Frey
- Dennis Goedl
- Lonnie Hansen
- Gary House
- Bob Kramer
- Lindy Lippert
- Michael Pearce
- Ray Rogers
- Ed Schempp
- Will Stegner
- Dan Westlund
- Nick Wheeler
- Randy Williams

Ya beat me to it! And your list is wayyyy more comprehensive... But I think the one johnny3443 may want to look into is Lyle B's classes at the north end of Lake Washington in Bothell... That'd be a great place to at least see what all's going on...

I'll be out in Bothell the first week of May helping Lyle teach a class. John, you might want to check in with Lyle and see about attending the Hammer-In that will follow that class (First weekend in May) His shop is located in the Country Village just about a mile off 405, exit 26 (I think it's exit 26?)

Don't forget some guy named Phil Boguszewski.

I will second Lyle Brunckhorst, I have a couple of his blades and they are quite nice. He seems to be big into helping/teaching others as well. Steven

Yeah Rod Chappel was just at the show in Las Vegas.., with some gorgeous stuff. He's an old friend of Jody Samson's also. Nice man.., terrific artistry in his blade shapes.

Hey guys, I need a list of Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, etc area kitchen knife makers. Have an event that may or may not ahve some open space for knife makers than can drum up that sort of inventory. Thanks for your help!

That's a start. I have sort of fallen out of touch with the seattle populace. Looking for blacksmiths and kitchen-type bladesmiths that might be interested in doing a small art show in the area.

Dave Lisch has studio 4 knife and blacksmithing school great place to take a class great teachers ive taken two classes there learned a ton

Thanks Rick & Ray.
John, I will be listing my up coming classes for the new year soon and it looks like this; I have a lock back folder class, with Mike Vagnino planned for Feb. and another shop rat class, intro to knife-making, a kookiri class with Jason Knight during the summer, a full week of Damascus making with me, just to name a few. I send out a class flyer, if you want to receive it go here, http://davidlisch.com/classes.html and leave your email address in the online form, you will get all the dates when I send them out.

Good for a laugh when I first read this my felling where hurt as Chuck is one of my good friends I was just on the phone with him yesterday just to chat so when I saw this post I could not believe he did not list me as a seattle area maker so you cam imagine how silly I felt when I saw it was from 2006 I met Chuck just after that at Lyle's hammer in. Chuck sorry about the PM;)

Ha ha. Yeah, Dave I felt the same way, then I was thinking - wait - that's from 2006. Hmm, well...I was a J.S. in 2006.... Chuck, what the Hell!?! Okay, now I'm ticked off.... This is war!!!!

Dave, let's gear up and occupy Chuck's front yard until he acknowledges us as Knifemakers near Seattle. We are the 99% and we want equal... stuff - n -...well, stuff.

Respect, yo.
