Seattle International knife show.

This is gonna be a sweet show for sure!!
Im gonna be able to shop, and shake hands with some greats!
To bad Aprils show schedule is getting crammed on the west coast......

The OKCA show is played out....not worth going to imo.

Best Regards,

I almost certainly will be there.

They should have a Facebook page.

It's only played out if collectors and makers don't support it. I had really good sales there last year, and for the price of a table ($125) you can't beat it.
It is still a great show with a lot of good makers. Definitely not what it used to be, I'll agree with you there.

The reason that the show is not what it used to be is that the show promoters don't think that getting legitimate buyers in the door is a priority....and drove of significant numbers of significant makers with this attitude.

Ben, I had THREE tables at the OKCA show for over 14 years. It has become a crap show, with a lot of tables....it is big, it has a distinct flea market feel and while there is some good stuff and certainly GREAT makers in the room, I have no interest in making the 5 hour drive down from Seattle, or the 2 hour drive down from Portland.

Blade is a great show, Little Rock from what I understand, is a great show, the USN Gathering is a great show.

You live in Eugene, it would be foolish for you not to go.

When I attend the OKCA Show it is business, there are significant expenses to recoup and those expenses were not remotely recouped the last 4 times I attended.

Daniel has the potential to have a great show in Seattle. He keeps his mind on money, and money on his mind.

Again, too bad this show conflicts with Solvang. Looks like a nice show, but for me and my interests Solvang trumps this.

Still, I hope it goes over like gangbusters. More successful shows = better for knife collectors (and makers).

really REALLY lookin forward to hangin with my bros!

looks like a men's weekend for me! Hoping to travel with Stu :)

Wish them luck but every knife show in the Seattle area in the past has been a failure. Liberal Californian/born again Seattleites don't seem to care much for knives. The theory that all those Microsoft millionaires will fall all over themselves buying over the top knives has never worked out.

This is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
The Seattle area has been very receptive to high end kitchen knives.
That can be like a gateway drug to open the public's eyes to custom knives in general.
My guess is that with the current line up the show will do very well.

The last time they had a knife show in Seattle, they did not even call it a Knife Show, something like "Renaissance In Steel" (?). I walked into the Double Tree Hotel and asked at the desk where the knife show was and they did not even know it was in their hotel! As I was looking around I saw a knife maker I recognized and asked him and he was able to direct me to the correct room. At least this time they are calling it a Knife Show, as a lot of people i talked to later had no idea there was going to be a Knife Show in Seattle. I personally like the OKC, as there is something for everyone, and I always seem to find something i would like to buy and do. My friend from Finland, Pekka Tuominen came to visit last year and he sold nine knives in Eugene, and was very happy with his trip. As far as the flea market, not everyone is in the market for a $500-$1000+ custom knife, so the OKC again has something for everyone. John

You obviously never went to Tom Ferry's ACE shows. Every one of Tom's shows was excellent with regards to attendance, food, knives offered to collectors and knife sales.

One might think that the editor of Tactical Knives magazine would have more of a positive attitude towards knife shows taking place in the same state in which they reside. Btw there are 3.5 million people who live in metropolitan Seattle. Not all liberals.

I think the fact that a pretty prominent dealer is putting on this show will help it to succeed. At any rate, I'm excited to be attending the first one

My check is on the way and I'll be attending this show also. I'm excited about it. Such a great line up of makers going. I'm looking forward to meeting makers and collectors from this forum that I haven't met yet. And of course, seeing my good friends again and talking/looking at knives is always a good time. :)

Lorien and John I look forward to meeting you both.

I think that the quality of the makers and the variety of knives at this show will help it to stand out. This is the show that is being Hypothesized in the San Antonio review thread. there will be knives from several genre, forged, tactical, folders and chefs. Seattle Is easily accessible, the weather should be mild, there are things for non knife nuts to do, and We are doing What we can to attract buyers. I also encourage all the attending makers to invite their best collectors. We are not asking makers to send their mailing list to us so it is up to the makers to invite their collectors. Vip info is available on the show website. www.seattleknifeshow.com .
