Seax Toothpick Knife - For Sale
Hi all. It’s been a while since I posted a custom piece for sale, so I fit in this one in between orders. Hope you like it.
History of the Seax
The seax, or sax, was the universally carried knife in Northern Europe. It was carried and used by the Saxons, Angles, Viking and Germanic tribes. Used during the fall of Rome on into the early Middle Ages.
Shop Details:
5160 Spring Steel was cut out and Normalized @ 1500 degrees until non magnetic, three times, to remove stresses and align crystals. Heat Hardened until blade became nonmagnetic, then quenched in oil. Tempered the blade to a straw hardness @ 550 degrees for 1 hour, letting it air cool and repeating once more. Sword was file tested and is shown to be very hard.
Measurements:
Total Length = 19 1/4”
Blade Length = 15 “
Blade Width = 1 7/16 “
Blade Thickness = 3/16 “
Handle Length = 4 ¼ ”
Handle Width = 7/8 “
Handle: Australian Cyprus. Scales attached with hidden pins and gorilla glued.
Weight = 10 oz
Hand etching added to the blade. Spells out “Scorpion” in Runic Script.
Asking $125 plus $14 shipping fee, if shipped in the US. Hand stitched Leather Sheath available upon request for an additional $29.
