Sebenza 21 or 25 - Which one would you choose?

I enjoy ALL of CRKs offerings, but to me, the 25 is THE best CRK designed folder to date. To me, the non-bushing feature is the top choice in "why" i would choose the 25 over the 21.

What exactly do you have against the precision bushing?

You can't dial in the resistance you want on the pivot. The bushing is well liked but not necessary in my opinion. That's my opinion though. Many like it. To me I'm indifferent.

I like the fact that with the bushing system you can tighten it down and youre good to go,

BUT.. in my experience, this system needs a good bit of tweaking to get ZERO side to side play. Ive sent in at least four 21's the last few years to alleviate some side to side wobble/play. It wasnt much, but enough that if you gave it a good snug side to side, you could feel play, which drove me nuts. The way crk fixes this issue is to either put a larger bushing in or sand some off the existing bushing. Im not exactly sure the ins and outs of the procedure, but its something along these lines. Im sure someone can chime in with a more detailed explanation.

Btw, when i felt a little play in my newly acquied 25, i grabbed both included wrenches and fixed it myself at my kitchen table. That was over a yr ago. Hasnt moved, and youd break the knife before inducing any side to side on this bad mofo! King 25!

^^ Fully agree..I also noticed much better edge strength with the 25 over the 21, without sacrificing much slicing ability if any at all..That large ceramic ball sure works wonders, no sticky lock, easier to disengage and feels smoother then my 21..

I have five 21s and a 25. I have no issues with blade play or wobble on any of the knives, and they all get used, sometimes hard, both outdoors and at my job as an electrician. The bushing system would be my preference as I feel it is a stronger design (with the bushing firmly sandwhiched between the slabs), and I like the low profile scews, but the 25 is awesome too, and I am unlikely to break either. I also feel I'm getting more for my money with a 21 in terms of the work that went into the knife, but you can argue either side successfully, as I am sure people will. The choice between the two is really splitting hairs in terms of quality and strength, so I think it comes down to which one you think looks better, which grind you prefer, and the weight of the knife. The 25 is heavier in pocket, but looks more impressive. I love both, but a large 21 would be my "desert island knife" in the current CRK line-up......or maybe a 25, I dunno....buy both?
