Sebenza 21 or 25?

Been out of the loop for awhile. Where can I get a 25? I would be on that in a minute but can't seem to find one. Thanks, Russ

Connor93 and simplespeed. Let us know what you guys have chosen today. I think we all are excited to see what you two end up with.

Welp. I held both and fell in love with both lol. But, the 25 feels exactly like an Umnumzaan to me. The 21 is what iv always wanted and feel a tad bit classier to me than the 25. Dont get me wrong im all about tough robust knives, but thats not what I want in a sebenza. Plus the 21 was quite a bit cheaper, so here she is with my other new knife I got this weekend. An Emerson Gentlemen Jim with steel flame crusader cross pivot and .357 thumb stud. Im a happy man right now!

Sweet man! They're nice additions! Now I suggest you use that sebenza and see what everyone is talking about. Cause that's when you truly enjoy them :)

25 also requires loctite..... 21 doesn't. Screws never even need tightening, if that matters. But I see you've made the decision already.

I got a 25 today. I like it Much better than the large 21 and large regular I used to have. I like everything about it, including the finger choil and

aggressive jimping some guys have made comments about.

It has an entirely differently feeling in hand, like, I want to Work.....not open envelopes and packages.

Exactly! The 25 just begs to be put into some really heavy work. Can't wait for the opportunity to really use mine.

Congrats on the new knife. Classic/21 is my personal preference.

My take... the 21 is a wolf in sheep's clothing, and the 25 is a wolf in dog's clothing. A SMF or a Satu is a wolf in wolf's clothing. It's all subjective - for special occasions, no one but you will know that a 25 is more special than a 21, or vice versa. Maybe a nice inlay 21 or Annual will stand out, but between a standard 21 and 25... they are both just big bland greyish knives to the uninitiated.

Very nice!

As much as I like the 25, I think you made the right choice.

It may be the most basic of Sebenza layouts, but right hand, single lug anodized blue with blue lanyard bar is my favorite. :)

Because even though CRK discourages flicking their knives, people still do it. And in certain roles, flicking the knife could be vital, such as a self-defense or a rescue situation.
There is such a little diference in time beetwen flicking and opening it normally.I doubt that few tenths of a second will make any difference in those extreme situations. My 2 cents.

Sometimes the margin of error is so small that a tenth of a second is what makes the difference between winning and losing, living and dying. (Al Pacino, Inches Speech Any Given Sunday) :)

the lack of a pivot bushing and the need for locktite are currently keeping me a happy 21 and older owner. LOVE the overall design and blade shape of the 25, and i love the ease of maintenance on the 21. the loctite thing and lack of bushing that requires you to 'set' the action are not appealing. NEVER had an issue on any sebbie with a bushing where you just make it guht-and-tite and forget about it. want the same on the 25. love the larger pivot pin, which might be what prevents the use of a bshing. even so, the busing is a big part of the genius of the Sebenza imho

Both are great knives. The 25 is definitely an improved version/evolution of the Sebenza 21, it is different and better. Why not ask Chris Reeve himself to settle the score after all he designed them both. I like both knives equally but I can appreciate the effort to make a better Sebenza in the 25 anniversary model. Buy both and you will never regret.

Relatively speaking, I own a lot of CRKs for the little amount of posting (primarily lurking) that I actually do and I reach for the 21 most often. Some of that's to do with the fact that I own one 25 at the moment and it's a first edition 25 with a "permanent" pin. Bought the large 25 first and then the large 21. IMO the 21 is the regal of the two. Don't be mistaken, the 25 is all Sebenza, but buy a 21 first. Save the 25 for the next purchase. Go with the progression of the model. That's what I try to do.

I have both and they are great, while being very different. The 21 is as close as your going to get to the simplicity of the regular sebenza. No adjusting pivots, just assemble and go. Easy to take apart, easy to put back together. A true classic..............The 25 is a beast and more zaan-like than sebenza. I have had mine for well over a year ( when they first came out ) and actually never had it apart yet and it functions like the day I bought it. So with the updated bronze washers with the holes in and such make teardown less frequent. It just depends on which style you prefer the most.
