Sebenza 21 question

are we talking about grease is best for the new perforated washers? Or the old style washers as well?

I find the oil works better and has less darg with the non perforated washers compare to grease. But maybe that is just me with my CRK's. I wonder what does everyone else thinks about the perforated vs. the solid old style washers and grease for the non perforated?

I like grease for my everyday knives because I use and clean them so often, the grease is more durable. I need to lube my oiled blades more often to maintain feel.
Ive also got a 500g tub of krytox, so Ill never run out in mine or my sons lifetime most likely. :D

OP:

CRK sells the proper flourinated grease, and will give you a tool for free most likely. Don't need mineral oil, just use 99% isopropyl from any pharmacy or drug store.

Don't use the cleaning method where you completely open the knife, then put it back by putting the blade on the lock side then screwing down the presentation side slab. You are almost guaranteeing a spa trip for new washers if you do that.

If you want a PDF prepared on the proper cleaning method check my link below, I have one made by CRK. It's super old, but works just as well.

Thanks for sharing that. Come to find out, I've been disassembling and reassembling incorrectly. Glad I got this before I pinched a washer! Thanks again

Edit. I do use alcohol pads though. They are outstanding for knife (and gun) cleaning!!

Stainless steel doesn't want oil on it. It hates it. It flings it off onto anything it can first chance it gets, and collects lint and other crap.

Keep your S30V & S35VN clean with 99% isopropyl from the same store.

This^ and the fluoro lube for the inside, I mostly use the blue microfiber to wipe the blade and it also shows if the knife is sharp, the cloth shows the slashes after wiping

i foudn teh CRK grease to be more "glidey" than the finish line Fluoro grease. also mixing grease and oil makes for a mess and the blade doesnt deploy smoothly - found out the fun way lol.

So I got my Sebenza today and went to clean it. I started taking one of the screws out and almost had a heart attack because it just stuck and spun. Turns out one of the previous owners must have use tons of lock tight on everything on the knife. Any ideas on how to clean it all off?

Try acetone and a Q- tip on the screws and pins. You might be successful with just a Q-tip though.
