sebenza 21 vs umnumzaan action and blade

Not sure about that, but it does make the most amazing cli-click on normal opening. Mine is a Small Micarta standard blade, and it is always impresses friends of mine with the subtle yet clearly discernible quality.

I gotta figure out how to upload a video file.

Agree on all points. The Inkosi also has the benefit of pivot "tunability", but is no where near the thumb flicker the Zaan is.

Another plus is the harpoon swedge makes a great impromptu scraper; I even use it to cut shrink film and adhesive tapes that I don't want gooing up my edge.

You can take the O-rings off if you want to hear the lockup; they do not effect lockup other than sound.
Really? I did not know that. I do like the blade on the Umnumzaan quite a bit.

Officer's Match Officer's Match Here I can’t figure out how to embed the video so hopefully this will work.

You gotta tap top right corner of the video for sound. There is a little thing that says tap for sound or a red / over a speaker symbol.

R ribeyemediumrare the Sebbies I own and have owned typically don’t come with a very good flicking action. This one is very well broken in.
Appreciate the video, that does sound pretty nice you may have even convinced me to get a small 21 and maybe the umnum later. I had a feeling there was probably a different feel between the small and large sebenza because of the size of the lockbars and the amount of titanium probably influences harmonics of the knife when opening and closing. I completely understand these aren't meant to be great flicking knives but do you find the small to be awkward at all to flick due to the smaller amount of material you can hold on to compared to the large sebenza or something similar?

My small 21 is very well broken in and thus flicks very well. Most CRK knives don’t flick very well. My large 21 actually flicked worse than small 21 but I never gave it the chance to break in like my small.

The inkosi I own and the umnumzaan (which I don’t own) have a large ceramic ball which is the lockface and the detent. I find the large detent BB on these knives isn’t great for flicking in my experience.

And yes the size of the small 21 seems to just be made in a way that produces beautiful harmonics.

Based on your advice I definitely find the Umnumzaan the most visually appealing by far, I still really like the clean lines of the 21, but the blade shape, milling, lock bar stabilizer, makes it much more cool looking.
You can also get one of the CGG models if you want milling on the Sebenza.

This is my Large 'Think Twice Code' CGG Sebenza next to my Small 21 for a size comparison (we discussed the differences between both sizes in the other thread).

The only CRK I haven't seen flicked is the Mnandi,.. Some people are very adept at flicking the Inkosi, Umnumzaan and Sebenzas. Personally? I have never really done it. Tried on the Umnumzaan a few times but found that the way I was doing it had a potential to slice my thumb open.

While the OP is comparing the pivot bushing to the Umnumzaan and Inkosi, there is also something else to mention besides potential for pinched washers. Pinched washers require the whole knife to be sent in for fitting new washers.
On the Inkosi and Umnumzaan,.the potential for pinching washers is so negligible that it may as well not be mentioned..but since the washers do not have to be fit, there is also potential that you could just buy replacements should you need them without sending the knife in.
One of the downsides to the Umnumzaan is the way it's opened. Sliding the thumb straight up the scale rather than an arcing motion. That tends to turn alot of people off. Tends to be a pretty polarizing design.

I own Sebenzas, Inkosis and Umnumzaans but tend to stick to the large when applicable. Large hands and comfort is mostly the reason for me.
