Sebenza 25 - **Update** from Last June 2013

ahhhh what is more great than a loyal tool that serves its purpose?? keep enjoying the heck out of it!

** 12-5-2012 to 2-19-2016 **

Well...to this day I still carry this 25 everyday at work; a little more than 3 years now... and use it daily, it's a little bit more worn (cosmetically) but still hasn't worn a mm deeper on lockup and still as smooth as day one. I have yet to put a single drop of loc-tite on the pivot...

I hope to create a post like JAB 7 years from now, and see what it looks like after a decade of use.

I think I might have received the unicorn of the 25s, it will accompany in my grave or be passed down to my kids.

I've taken it down 3 times, once when brand new, once about a year after getting it to see what was going on in there, all the grease was still in the pockets, and once a few months ago.

I can count on my right hand how many times i've sharpened it as well...think I got some mystical s35vn.

I love seeing a great knife like the 25 put to real use. I've just moved away from a small 21 to a 25 and am loving it. I look forward to many years use (and a natural patina), and now that I've seen this thread I realize just how tough the 25 is. I'll be watching for updates, thanks for posting.

that's how a knife should look. it's beautiful!!

the 25 is such a great knife!

Thanks for the update!

Steel - I'm curious, have you been flicking the knife open all these years, or do you use the more gentle CRK recommended method?

The 25 would be impossible to thumb flick. I just tried for s&g but can only get it about 1/3 open without using much wrist action.

I open it and close it like any other sebenza. One fluid motion with the side of my thumb. When using heavy gloves ill grab both studs with one hand and the handles with the other and pull it open but no crazy mall ninja wrist flicking. I fail to see the importance to getting the blade open as fast and quickly as possible.

Thanks everyone for enjoying my journey.

So it's not just me. I get just past half unless I use wrist action, then thwap! Which seems to harsh so no flicking for this user.

I just wondered if yours had been flicked all these years without harm. Thanks for the reply.

My 25 flicks open with very little effort and no wrist action, and the pivot isn't loose. Though I prefer to butter it open and wait for the "click".

Beautiful 25, steel. Love the wear put on it from years of use. You have me wanting to buy a 25 now. :)

Thanks for the review & updates S_A. I've been on the fence between a large 21 or a 25. Last night I came down on the side of the 25 & ordered a Star-Benza from Wilson Combat.
