Hey CRK fans!!
Did the Sebenza 25 ever look like a Sebenza 21?

No, looks like a matter of mistaken identity. Definitely the wrong card.

But wait,
There’s more.

Not date on the scales and no blade marking. I think this may be a clone?

Thats a case of either got took or trying to take!

Was there ever a time CRK didn't have the steel type marked on the blade tang? If this isn't a real one, it's definitely the most convincing one I've ever seen.

You have to go back to BG-42 on the Regular and early Classic 2000 Sebenza fo non marked blades
One marking missing is possible though rare, multiples are alnost impossible since the scales and blades are not made at the same time , nor put together imediately after stamping.

Interesting. if it’s fake it’s convincing. I don’t think the 21 came with BG-42 so the lack of blade marking and lack of date stamp is mysterious. It’s stamped Idaho made, so it would have to be 21 era, but no other stamps is odd and perhaps a red flag.

Then you have the bad card also. Starting get into very long odds territory.
if the owner believes it is real, they maybe should have CRK authenticate it

I believe that to be a legit CRK. But it’s a 21, not a 25, somebody put the wrong birth card in with that knife.

It does look legit but what of the lack of blade steel marking and no dates in the Ti slabs? I’m sure both should be present for an Idaho Made marked Sebenza.

Couple more points
Not just one but both scales missed being stamped. I don't believe they do lockside and show side at the same time.
I don't believe they were using solid washers during that period.

The machining on the lanyard pin is also reminiscent of the very early 21s. Would they have switched to the newer style by the time they had the Idaho markings? I also don't see the masking line where they heat treat the lock face. Did CRK ever not have the detent hole going the whole way through the blade? It has grind marks that are neither stonewashed nor polished. This one just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Not saying it's definitely fake, but honestly that knife has too many red flags for me personally. It even has the box style many of the fakes insist on using. It doesn't have torx screws but those could've been swapped with real CRK screws.
