Sebenza 31

I don’t think there are many groups that either split finer hairs or are more change-averse than CRK aficionados.
It's understandable. Especially with something as iconic as the sebenza.

There were definitely a few stinkers that made it out initially, as I'm sure happens anytime there's a major rollout of a new model of anything. It's how it's handled back at the shop that really gives confidence.

I personally like the 31 more just because there's no locating hole on the show side, for some reason it made my brain hurt, especially on the inlaid models.

I also like the idea behind the ceramic ball, but whether it makes a difference during a lifetime of ownership is TBD on my end.

Some of us were leery of the Regulars…
You old guard guys have definitely seen a lot of iterations at this point in the game. The 21 came out while I was still in college, at that point I was just starting to dip my toes into brands other than Case and schrade.

Even if I'd learned about CRK then, there's no way I'd have been able to afford or even fathom spending that kind of money on a knife.

My 31 has lock movement, as did the other one I owned. I don't believe the reports by individuals who say theirs do not, as even CRK acknowledges it's part of the lock design.

That said, it doesn't really bother me. I understand why it occurs and it doesn't mean the lock is unsafe.

I’ve wanted a sebenza for decades but could never afford. I’m finally in a position to buy myself 1 for my 50th Birthday present to myself but I just can’t pull the trigger. This lock rock/flex issue or “feature” as some call it just sounds gross to me and I know it’s going to bother me. This is a $500 knife advertised as having bank vault lock up.

My sub $225 para 2s and 3s are rock solid, heck even my Chinese $50 Tenacious is rock solid.

Maybe this isn’t the place to ask this considering this is a CRK fan section and there’s already a 91 page thread on here somewhere that’s already beaten this issue to death but I’m going to anyway.

What’s another $500 or less titanium folder with the same simple utilitarian looks as the sebenza that locks up rock solid? Think Tim will ever do a run of 21s without the ceramic ball anytime in the future?
I have one sebenza 21 (small) and 3 Sebenza 31's. All rock solid and excellent knives.

Mine does too, but a newer one in Magnacut I recently handled didn't. Do not that the movement occurs when you apply pressure way beyond what I'd consider "reasonable use".

I feel like the lock rock thing is a non issue. I have a 31, 21, and whatever the generation before 21 was and they all lock up great. The only difference is a double click when opening the 31 and each gets smoother as it ages.

They’re still my favorite work folders.
