Sebenza Arrived!

Love it! Dark wood inlays with gold lugs and spacer is my favourite Sebenza. And the darker blasted lockbar and clip looks amazing! Regarding the thumb stud problem, push from behind the stud, not on top/over it.:)

Yup figured that out ... not effective on the 2nd though. My left thumb is bruised, lol. It is breaking in nicely, action is getting sweet.

Seems to me someone could make a living offering replacement lug work on these things. Like any other, just gotta get used to operating it I suppose. Going back to my roots; NOTHING beats the Spyder Hole.

its great looking.

i got a plain small sebnza a while ago. sometimes i think i should have gotten some nice embelishments like the ones on yours but other itmers i like the utility look of the plain.

in any case i really like the yellow/gold studs and inlays on yours. very nice.

thanks for sharing.

After some saving-up, a small 21 is next, not sure I want the inlays, but getting a matching one is small has my attention.

Update on break-in... HOLY COW this thing is great now. Even knowing the knife was brand new and break-in was required I was a little concerned about the lugs and the effort it was taking to open and disengage the lock. After a few hundred cycles, it's nearly perfect. Happy camper. It's amazing how buttery this frame lock is.

Pocket clip is the best I've used.

With the variety of options it can be pretty hard to decide on a first (and a second, and a...:p) - Nice choice!

P.S. And it'll only get better with age. ;)

Great looking knife! And I wouldn't worry about the pointy thumb studs; your thumbs will toughen up .

Just kinda dig this shot...

Interested in photography? If not, skip the following mumbo-jumbo.

but try doing the same thing with a closeup of the thumbstud.
Using the same setup, the end of the blade and the back end of the scales would be out of focus, which would look cool, but I was attempting to highlight the inlays, there's just something about wood and Ti together that I find cool.

Not actually macro .... the DOF is caused by a fairly closed aperture (relative to the distance from camera to subject) at a long focal length, roughly 2' out. More info: Canon 1DsMKIII, 24-70 (shot at 70mm), f/11, 125, ISO 100. Shot on white seamless, lit with 2 1600 watt strobes, thru white scrims, left with some ceiling bounce. RAW image is 4391x3108 and 21 megs :) Here, reduced to 800 wide & less than 90k for web viewing. Obviously not color corrected or retouched. They pay me to do that, but not on my personal stuff, lol.

That should just about cover it :)
